It had been two weeks since Claire s mother died. Her father s death already broke her, now she felt like she had shattered into a million pieces. She felt useless without her parents.
After a while, school was becoming harder. Her grades were getting lower and soon, so was her attendance. Every time she went she felt like an outcast, like she didn't belong there any more. Her friends would no longer talk to her and others would pick on her.
Instead of going to school she just sat outside in a nearby park and thought about the happy memories she has with her parents. How her dad would read her bedtime stories and her mother teaching her how to clean.
Claire knew that she had to toughen up, so she challenged the bullies. She punched and kicked them until she felt satisfied. She knew it wasn t right to fight them, she just had so much anger and she didn t know how to deal with it. She could no longer bear it.
She thought about the last thing her mother said to her. Look after Serah. Claire knew she wanted to fulfil this final wish. She had to become stronger. She would no longer be the pitiful girl she once was. She had to be strong for Serah.
Claire eventually dropped out of school to pursue a career in the military as her father did. This way she could protect Serah and become stronger.
Claire had no idea where life would take her, but she did know everything would be okay in the end.
Suddenly a bolt of lightning flashed through the sky.
