So this is a story prompted by MaeMacintosh. It's slightly different in how I write the character of Kono but not entirely different from certain traits she portrays in the show. In my normal stories I often write Kono to be married or pregnant but in this story she is neither. I will explain how the story came about and the prompt once the story has finished however there may be a slight clue to the prompt and the basis of the story within each chapter. Also this is set in season one so the team haven't been together that long and Kono is still the rookie so this also means characters that have been killed off since are alive in this but you'll see that.

Chapter one- Mechanic.
The man smirked as he sat in his blacked out car eyeing the dark black four by four. He sat watching as the local man got out and wandered into the Five-0 headquarters. He was the last of the four to arrive and the next half an hour would be the perfect slot to prepare his fate.
The early morning sunrise lit the sky enough to see what he was doing, but kept things with a light sense of dusk providing the perfect cover. It was unlikely he would be seen at this time in the morning anyway. He had stalked the team for the past week and they always arrived between half past six and seven thirty. The only difference with today was the native man arrived last. Usually the leader would get there first and half six on the dot shortly followed by the native girl who always had wet hair presumably from a morning surf. Then the native man would follow sometimes they would even arrive together. Then the haloe would arrive last with coffee and masaladas and a look of pain written across his face. Maybe it was fate that the native man would be the last today…maybe it was a sign.
The bomb was planted and hidden quick enough not to arise any suspicion. Once done the man hurried back to his car and hid in the shadows ready to make the call.
The team were gathered around the table, frantically flicking through paperwork and online files their minds racing as they raced against the clock. Earlier that morning they had received a call from someone anonymous telling them that Five-0 would die today. Chin had tried to trace the number but the caller had hung up before Chin could get it. The location of this person was unknown, his name was unknown and the fate of Five-0 was unknown.
"Guys if this is legit we could die at any moment, there could be a bomb somewhere in this building or in our houses or cars and then when we unknowingly enter one of said options …boom!" Danny rambled dramatically his hands flying everywhere.
"Calm down Danno we don't know this is even real" Steve argued.
"Steven some nut job has just called you telling us were going to die sorry for being concerned about my wellbeing!" Danno argued back waving a finger at Steve.
"Guys calm down Steve's right this might not be legit but Steve if it is then Danny has every right to be concerned, I to would prefer not to die today but we can't lose are heads worrying instead we need to focus on finding this person." Kono reasoned with every part of her remaining calm.
"She right guys we need to continue going through old cases question anyone that had a problem with all of us" Chin said as the team went back to their work.
The team searched through their most recent cases trying to find anyone that may have something against all four of them. Each file was coming up empty, there was no one that they believed wanted them dead per say and most were dead themselves as a result of their actions. Others that were in prison had not possible way of doing it unless they had someone on the outside but the team had no clue who out of all their past cases would be using an outsider. Kono put up some older cases to see if there was anything from a while ago, any clue a comment anything to suggest that five 0 would die. As Kono searched the files her mind went to their number one suspect in many a case. Could it be possible?
"Wait…they called Steve" Kono pointed out.
"Yeah?" Chin questioned.
"So that could possibly mean Steve is the first target" Kono said confidently.
"So what we put a protective ring of HPD officers around Neanderthal here and hope for the best" Danny drawled sarcastically.
"No because it could also mean that giving Steve extra protection is what this person wants so that the rest of us think were safe but then he catches us of guard." Kono pointed out.
"Okay so we all have extra protection?" Danny says with a roll of his eyes.
"No Danno we keep our wits about us. This jerk could get us at any time so we have to be extra careful." Kono explained. "But Steve's past or his mothers could be a clue" Kono said with thought.
"Huh?" Steve grunted.
"Trust this to be your fault" Danny moaned.
Steve glared at Danny's moaning and turned his attention back to Kono.
"Let's face it Wo Fat wants you dead boss but he also wants to hurt you so it's possible that he wants to kill us three first and make you lose us before being killed yourself" Kono explained. "And your mum was killed in a car bomb as was Laura Hill both of which were Wo Fat's doing so maybe we should check our cars before we do anything else. If there's a car bomb planted in one of them then I'd say we can confidently accuse Wo Fat if not then it's possible someone else is to blame." Kono said with a smile pleased with her thinking's.
"You're right let's go"
Kono leant over Steve's truck carefully checking each and every wire and every part. Bomb squad stood nearby just in case she found something inconspicuous. Her overalls were covered in oil as she checked the oil for any unusual substances and leakage.
"Anything?" Steve called from where he stood.
"Not yet all seems fine" Kono replied as she continued with her search.
"All seems good here" Kono informed after another ten minutes of scanning.
She moved on to Danny's Camero next lifting the hood and beginning her search. Again she checked the oil and every part of the car, using various mechanics' tools to do her job. The three guys stood in awe as they watched their friend potentially save their lives.
"All good" She said before moving to her own car.
Once again it was clear so she moved to her cousins, a sense of fear bubbling in the pit of her stomach. If her instincts were correct and this was Wo Fat's doing then she would find a car bomb planted waiting to kill her favourite cousin. It made her feel sick to her stomach but she pushed it aside to remove the potential offending weapon and save her boys from getting themselves killed. She searched thoroughly and with extra care as she followed every wire making sure everything connected in the correct place. She moved to the engine and checked it finding an unknown wire. She followed it carefully as far as she could before deciding to probe around further holding her breath as she moved with added caution. It only took a few moments for her to discover a bomb attached to the wire ready to blow the minute the ignition was turned on.
"Guys I got a bomb" Kono said as she stepped away from her cousin's car the bomb squad moving in to take over.
Chin's face was a picture of fear and relief as his cousin informed them that yes there was a bomb and that it had been planted in his car.
"Cuz if you hadn't been able to do that I could have died today" Chin said in shock.
"It's fine cuz girls gotta do these thing!" She joked with lightness hoping to ease his worry.
The man sat frustrated as he watched the smart arse girl check each car. He had been confident enough that even with a search she wouldn't find anything, besides she was a young cop not a fracking mechanic…that's what he thought, she appeared to prove otherwise. The man frowned in anger as the bomb was discovered; he would have to keep an even lower profile knowing for sure they would suspect him. He knew as he watched the girl that she would cause problems, she seemed on top of things and overachiever and annoyingly good at everything.
"Don't worry sweetheart I'll find something you're not good at"
Sorry it's a little short but I just needed to get something out to start me off. The next chapter will be longer. There will be seven chapters in total and I will post as often as possible.
