Written for the Warrior Challenge Forum's Ipod Shuffle challenge. The trick here was that I could only write the drabble while the song was playing. It nearly killed me that I wasn't able to edit.
So, read and review!
See the World – Gomez
The lake rippled, and Cinderheart danced along the shore. Her legs were strong, her fur slick, and she relished the feeling of the water along her belly. When Jayfeather had taught her to swim, she had first been repulsed. To swim? Only RiverClan cats and fish swam. She had hated water already; when it rained, she sheltered under arching tree roots and in abandoned fox holes.
Then, slowly, she had become accustomed to the feeling, and with her new familiarity came the freedom. No longer tied to the earth by her crippled leg, she could move freely, fluidly, and far. She didn't have to hobble and see their sympathetic glances. The water moved her.
Maybe one day, she would swim across the lake.
Everytime We Touch – Cascada
They'd been in love! What had happened?
Squirrelflight asked herself this whenever they passed each other in the camp center, their eyes meeting briefly and painfully. Too many lies had soured everything.
Sometimes at night she would feel him by her side, breathe in his scent, before waking and remembering that they were no longer in love, he wouldn't sleep by her side, and that his voice in her dreams was only a longing for times well past. It drove her insane.
And she wanted to be in love again, just to be in love, just to feel as if she could fly every time they touched.
Hallelujah – Rufus Wainwright
She knew there had to be a way to make him open to her. They had once been so close. There had to be one secret word that would make him love her.
Cinderpelt watched Firestar pace from the entrance of his den. "Hello?" she tried.
He shook his head. "I can't."
There had to be a switch, a lever, to shut it off! Her being a medicine cat, him being leader. Just back to how it once was.
Tears to Shed – Corpse Bride
"If they knew you, they'd love you," meowed Leopardfoot.
"But Mommy," Tigerstar growled. "They all think I'm a big baddie."
"Well, you've made a few oopsies, but you have to make up for them."
"I'm actually a very sweet and sensitive tom!"
"I know, honey. Just show them."
"But how?"
Love the Way You Lie – Eminem
Split open on the stones, and each time Ashfur saw her he loved her more, but he knew he was insane, he was wrong, an idiot. She didn't love him. She'd rejected him. He burned.
The flames ate at the cliffside and he found himself full of satisfaction, a twisted sort of feeling that belonged in bad places. Her eyes were fearful and he loved her more than ever. Intertwined with his love was spite – he wanted her, and he wanted her to hurt.
He pushed her towards the edge and pulled her back, just to hear her lovely screams.
