Dating and "Hating"

Disclaimer: I do not own PPG

So, I know it's been a while, and I wont be posting anything for my new long term story till the end of next month, probably an exact month from now, but this is a request story and I told the person I would have it posted today. Enjoy.

Summer before Senior Year

Dexter hates the beach, then again, he disliked most of the outdoors unless there were fascinating scientific things he could do while he was outside. But, it had been made painfully clear by his older and annoying sister Deedee that unless he planned on cloning himself, he would never get a girlfriend if he stayed holed up in his lab all day. Shortly after that conversation, they moved from their home in SuBurba, Maine to Townsville, New York. He was a sophomore and his sister was a junior.

Nervousness had all but consumed him until he saw her. Red hair, pink eyes, knock-out body. Blossom Utonium, not only did her name sound scientific, she was also smart. It had been instant attraction and Dexter has wanted her since.

Which is why he is at the beach in the first place, to ogle at her perfection. In the almost two years he had been there, two things had surprised him: his sister had actually graduated and she was friends with Blossom and her sisters, and two, she was a science experiment and not completely human. The last one had only seemed to amp up his want for her. Of course, she and her sisters weren't the only ones. His tormentors, Brick, Boomer, and Butch Jojo were very similar to the girls, but they didn't seem to get a long much until this last year when Bubbles, the blond that was a lot like his sister, and Boomer, as equally dimwitted in his opinion, got together. Then they had to be civil with each other.

Dexter watches Blossom dreamily until someone interrupts him.

"Take a picture, it lasts longer, and will look less creepy." Brick laughs at the weak boy.

"Oh shut it Jojo." Dexter growls at the other boy. In sheer physical appearance, Brick had Dexter beat tenfold. Brick, was also more street smart than others and had the presence of a commander. Dexter is unsure of Brick's mental capacity, since he never really gives his opinion in classes. He has that whole "too cool for school" attitude.

"Ya know nerd, if you like someone, you ask them out, not hide in the fucking bushes like some whacked out stalker, unless you want her to call the cops." Brick smirks before he walks off and over to his brother Butch. Dexter takes a deep breath before he musters up the courage to approach Blossom. His knees wobble as he walks over and out of his peripheral, he sees Brick and Butch trying not to laugh and then his friends, the three that he had, which were all surprisingly not nerds, giving him the thumbs up.

"Oh, hey Dexter, what's up?" Blossom asks as she sees the young scientist approach her. A garbled mess explodes from his lips and Blossom blinks inn confusion while Brick and Butch lose what little self-control they had and laugh hysterically.

"Come again?" Blossom asks.

"I was wondering if you would like to go out with me on Friday." Dexter manages to say. Blossom looks at him for a minute before she smiles and nods before they set up a time. Dexter smiles and then walks over to his friends who are congratulating him.

"First the date, then the fun." One of them says with a big smile.

"Yeah, I mean, if she said yes to you, totally means she wants you." Another says, earning nods from the others.

Butch stares in disbelief as Brick just shrugs with indifference.

"Dude, did that just happen?" Butch asks.

"Appears so." Brick replies nonchalantly.

"But you…" Butch starts only to receive a quick glare from his brother, telling him to shut his mouth, now.

"I don't give a shit what she does with whomever. It's her life. Why the fuck should I care?" Brick replies coldly.

"I thought you…ya know." Butch replies.

"Nope. Unlike you and Boomer, I won't fall for my counterpart." Brick growls. Butch gives a heavy sigh as reply before they walk off towards the concession stands.

Buttercup looks at her sister, confused and shocked at what had just happened. She said yes to date the biggest nerd in school, not to mention the most emotionless human on the planet.

"I hope you know what you're doing sis." Buttercup says.

"Well, at least I'm not dating my once archrival like you and Bubbles." Blossom replies.

"Hey, we're not dating. We're just really good friends." Buttercup quips.

"Whatever you say sis, whatever you say." Blossom replies.

September

It was the first day of senior year in high school and Blossom had made plans to walk with Dexter to school that morning.

"Seriously, you're walking?" Bubbles asks as she curls her hair, deciding to keep it down today showing its length down to her ribs.

"Yes." Blossom replies as she brushes out her hair.

"But we can fly and we have cars." Buttercup points out as she combs out her short black hair. Her hair frames her face with its choppy uneven cut, and came down to her chin.

"You're point being?" Blossom asks.

"I'm just saying it's weird. Doesn't he have a car too?" Buttercup asks.

"Yeah, but he wants to walk with me. So we can talk and not have to hassle with traffic." Blossom says.

Bubbles and Buttercup look at each other and then sigh in surrender as they grab their stuff and head outside. Two cars were already waiting for them, both Butch and Boomer. Buttercup and Butch finally became a couple two weeks ago. Also waiting was Dexter as he stood near the end of the sidewalk. He looks almost bored and annoyed about something as Blossom walks over to him.

"Shall we leave?" Blossom asks.

"Once they do." Dexter says as her sisters get into the boy's cars. A blood red car speeds by and that somehow signals the other two to speed off in pursuit. Dexter rolls his eyes.

"Incompetent morons." Dexter mutters as they start their walk to school. They rarely held hands, mostly because Dexter never took his gloves off and Blossom didn't like the feel of her warm hand against the cold latex.

"Why is it you never want to drive?" Blossom asks.

"I just don't want to." Dexter replies.

"But why?" Blossom persists.

"Is it so bad to want to spend time with you in the morning?" Dexter asks.

"No, I'm just saying that we would get to school faster if we took your car." Blossom says. Dexter nods at her statement before her looks at her again.

"So, have you thought about taking our relationship a little farther?" Dexter asks.

"I have, and I still don't think I'm ready to let you start to explore farther than my lips. It's just too fast Dex." Blossom says.

"Oh, alright." Dexter says with a smile. Blossom smiles back at his sweetness and understanding as they continue their walk.

"Well, if it isn't the brainy couple who finally decides to enchant us with their presence." Brick laughs sardonically.

"Oh just shut up Brick. You're such a pain in the ass." Blossom growls as they walk into the school upon their arrival after a forty minute walk.

"It's what I do best." Brick smirks.

"What, be an annoying pest?" Dexter asks. Brick ignores him, as usual and goes back to pestering Blossom.

"Fucking leave me alone you jerk." Blossom shouts.

"Whoa, never knew you had such language at your disposal. Gotta say, it's interesting that you can use it so well." Brick teases.

"Are you done yet?" Blossom asks annoyed. She glares at her counterpart and in this silent stare down she does take notice of a few things that have changed. Both trios had gained human-like limbs – hands, noses, ears, etc. – when they were eight. The major difference now was what puberty had done for them. He was towering her at over six feet tall compared to her five foot five. He has lean muscles that seem to just fill his clothes to where they can show but not bulky or gross. Trace stubble rests above his upper lip, on his chin and jawline. His hair, still long, was back. He has three ear piercings and she knew from at the beach that he has two tattoos, one on each arm. Not like she would ever admit to being attracted to her once archrival and now annoyance at school.

A devilish smirk plays on his lips and in his eyes – which also downsized to normal human size – before he speaks again.

"For now. Have fun with that toothpick you call a boyfriend. Who knows, maybe one day he'll actually hit puberty like me." Brick snickers, his brothers smiling.

"God you are such an arrogant prick. You know, you're not some superior being. You're still human." Blossom hisses.

"Mostly. You're one to talk, you snooty bitch. You walk around here like you're perfect. You're not. You make mistakes." Brick snaps back. Blossom rolls her eyes, grabs Dexter's hand and walks off.

"God I hate him." Blossom hisses.

"I can tell." Dexter says.

"Another day, another mission accomplished." Brick sneers.

"You really pissed her off bro." Boomer says.

"Yup." Brick replies.

"Don't you think that was a bit, oh I don't know, uncalled for?" Boomer asks.

"Nope." Brick replies.

"You used to be more civil with her dude." Butch quips.

"What the fuck ever. Look, stay out of this. Blossom is an annoying little bitch, and I can't help if I enjoy getting under her skin and pissing her off. Why should I care? I don't even like her." Brick says. Boomer and Butch roll their eyes and drop it.

Quit lying to yourself. You know you like her.

No, I hate her and she knows it.

No you don't. In fact, the opposite is true.

Brick ignores these thoughts as he goes to class. Unfortunately, he can't avoid them long because he is stuck sitting right behind Blossom in this class. Ok, what almighty being did I piss off today? Brick internally groans. Grateful that her smart ass of a boyfriend isn't in this class, he feels no need to pester her and instead pays attention in class.

Blossom looks over her shoulder behind her and sees Brick paying attention to class. Odd, he's not pestering me now when he was about ten minutes ago, Blossom thinks as she faces the front of the class. Brick has always been such a confusing person, but while he's been confusing, cocky, and mean before, he was never this persistent about annoying her. It was like he was desperate for some sort of connection, positive or negative, from her.

Pull it together and stop thinking like that, you are with Dexter. One of the sweetest, albeit a little grumpy in the morning, people, and understanding. He doesn't try to pressure me, Blossom thinks. Again though, she had to admit, but only to herself that Brick was incredibly attractive, but as for his attitude, that's where it stopped.

So why do I feel like this?

You know exactly why.

No, I'm not…

Oh, yes, you are, so deep it's ridiculous.

Blossom stews on these thoughts as the class drags on, and once it was done, she could hardly remember anything the teacher had talked about.

1 week later

Classes finally picked up their pace and now all three sisters were heading to the locker rooms to change. Their male counterparts were right behind them and again, Brick wasn't pestering her and oddly, this bothers Blossom.

"So he's not bugging you, but when you're in the hall or at lunch, he does?" Buttercup asks just as their friends, Robin, Joan and Lexi run up to them.

"What are you guys talking about?" Robin asks.

"Oh, Blossom was just telling us how Brick is on and off with pestering her. Can you give us any other details?" Bubbles asks as they enter the locker rooms to change.

"Well, other than at the times that he does bother me I'm with Dexter, but that shouldn't make a difference." Blossom says as they change. It was the first dress down day of the year.

"It might." Joan says.

"How?" Blossom asks.

"Maybe he's trying to divert your attention away from your boyfriend to him because he just doesn't like that you're dating him." Joan suggests.

"Are you saying that Brick is jealous of Dexter?" Blossom asks.

"Not of him in particular, but that he has you. Of course, this is just a guess. Also, you always sit with Dexter and his group at lunch, and I wish you would sit with us." Robin pouts.

"Sorry, but Dexter is kinda shy around you guys and we're still a new-ish couple." Blossom says.

The girls all gave each other a look before they shrug and walk out into the gym. The boys are already in a game except for Dexter who just waits for Blossom so he can walk around the gym. Blossom waves to her friends and sisters before she goes over to Dexter and they start their walk.

"Seriously, what the hell does she see in him. Sure he's sweet, understanding, and smart, but he's a wimp." Lexi says.

"And she's starting to change." Buttercup growls.

"How?" Robin asks.

"She doesn't speak much around him, she only sits with him at lunch, she leaves her hair down all the time because he doesn't like when the hair is done because he thinks it's a waste of time. He's only interested in anything scientific or mathematical, despises all other classes. Talks down about us. She doesn't even say anything to him about it, but she doesn't agree. She's not the same, and they've only been together a few months." Buttercup says.

"I do not like the sounds of that." Joan says.

"Neither do I, but it's not like we can do anything. We gotta let this play out." Bubbles says as class carries on.

"And if I may be so bold, I think I know that Brick doesn't like the change being brought in Blossom. But to be sure, I think I'll go ask him." Robin smiles before she bounces up and jogs over to Brick.

"What's up Robin?" Brick asks, his head tilts to the side.

"I have a few questions I would like to ask you in private please." Robin smiles. Brick cocks an eyebrow at her but shrugs and follows the goofy brunette.

"So, what do you think of Blossoms boyfriend? Be honest, I won't tell." Robin says.

"How stupid do I look? You'll tell her sisters and friends." Brick hisses.

"We can keep secrets." Robin says. Brick looks at her apprehensively before he shrugs.

"I think he's a scrawny little twerp, who only got lucky she said yes to him, and it was probably out of pity for the poor fool." Brick grumbles.

"And you feelings towards Blossom." Robin asks, though she expects him to say something mean and nasty, she waits.

"I think I'm in love with the stubborn woman." Brick mutters almost instantly before he realizes what he has said and looks up at a stunned Robin.

"You heard that didn't you?" Brick asks. Robin numbly nods.

"You cannot tell her that. Ever. I think the only people who know are my brothers. You'd better not tell her." Brick growls.

"I won't, but you should." Robin says before she walks back to the gym with wide eyes.

"And…" Bubbles asks.

"You can't tell you sister." Robin says.

"Was it that awful?" Buttercup asks.

"No, he said it absently, like he was talking to himself, and then he realized what he said. He loves her." Robin whispers as Brick walks back into the gym, a bored expression on his face.

"So what was that all about?" Butch asks.

"Homework assignment for a class she missed." Brick shrugs.

"Oh, well, back to the game then." Boomer laughs. The girls all stare in shock before a smirk breaks out on Buttercups face.

"Well, at least we know there's someone out there who would be more of a man then the weenie she's dating now." Buttercup laughs, her friends and sister join in.

I hope you all enjoy this. I wanted it to be really good since it is the first request story I've done. Next chapter will be up shortly.
