Chapter One: What you need is…
Marshal Marshal sat down at his desk. He knew everything about everything, including her. Actually especially her. And she always listened to him. And now she was on her way back for a vacation he had told her to go on. But not for the guy he had meant for her to be with. Sure Fader did make her think sometimes but not in the way Marshal had meant.
She deserved so much better then Fader. And when she had left with him his heart broke. That speech must have went right over her head. But then he reminds himself of the look she was giving him. He always wonders if she knew what she was saying and what he meant and she was just running. Not willing to let her best friend be in love with her.
He watched as she walked in the door. She looked well rested. Marshal face turned into a grin. He was standing to say he missed her when he saw someone behind her and he sat down and let out a sigh.
She hang over his desk.
"Oh you are back."
"Why so icy?"
"Sorry Mary. I see you brought a friend."
"Yah Fader had a few more days off. He's gonna hang here and help with the work load."
"Wonderful." Marshal said. "Maybe ill take my vacation now."
"What is wrong with you?"
"Just been a weird few weeks. I need to go check on my witness."
"I will go with you."
"No I think I will take Charlie on this one. You seem to have your hands full with your help."
He was out the door. He did not want to see the hurt that might that might be on Marys face. But more then that, if she didn't have the hurt look, he didn't want to see the huh what was that look. Which is probably how she looked. She probably didn't notice that he was mad.
