Leo Valdez was tired. For three weeks he had flown around the world, searching for her. With practically no food, (Fonzies not included) he had searched and searched. Slumped down on Festus, he gave in to the fact that the super-sized McShizzle was gonna die. "At least I tried, right Festus?" He asked the mechanical dragon. He got a series of creaks and whirs in response. "Thanks bud. Your vote of confidence is truly overwhelming." Leo snapped. The Stygian promise he had made was burning him inside to out- literally. At first the pain had been dull. Then, it really started. At night he was kept awake, and during the day, he usually fell off of Festus three times an hour. Luckily, the bronze dragon moved fast. And then he saw it. A green island, with sandy beaches. And if Leo squinted, he could see a smashed table on the beach...exactly where he had left it. "Ogygia. We found it, Festus. We found it." Leo breathed, tears of joy leaking from his eyes.
He heard a voice then. A voice that sounded like a thousand angels. Calypso's voice. It carried across the wind, reaching his ears after weeks of waiting. He let out a whoop. "CALYPSO! I FOUND YOU!" He screamed into the island breeze. He knew she couldn't hear him, but he needed to do it. Festus swooped down onto the white sand beach and let out a roar. The roar was truly unnecessary. Calypso had spent the first few days telling herself that in no way was she in love with Leo Valdez. Nope. Sorry, Fates. And then she remembered. His curly hair, his crooked smile, his glass-half-full take on life. She found herself waiting for him to keep his promise. That day, she had been waiting in her petunia garden. The garden that Festus' tail had completely destroyed. "My petunias!" Calypso had cried. And then realization struck. That thing that had crushed her flowers was bronze. And connected to a large bronze dragon. Atop that large bronze dragon was a dirty, grimy, skinny, smelly Leo Valdez.
Her hands flew to her mouth, her eyes leaked unwarranted tears. He slid off the dragon and stumbled across the beach. He stopped in front of her, and she let herself gasp. Then, he lifted his head, smiled that crooked smile, and said "How you been, Sunshine?" Calypso slapped him. "LEO VALDEZ! YOU ARE SO STUPID! MAKING A STYGIAN PROMISE TO FIND ME!" Then she kissed him. "I'm so glad you found me."
"I love you too, Sunshine." Leo said, smiling.
"Don't call me that!" Calypso pouted, annoyed.
"How about mi sol?" Leo asked.
"What does that mean?"
"My sun." Leo said, grinning stupidly.
"I swear, Leo Valdez!"
