Realization
He was not a man prone to show his emotions however on this occasion it was different. This was personal, close to his heart. And by the tone of his colleague's face when she had spoken his name and the expression on her face when he had turned around told him that it was bad news. Something was wrong, it was serious though he didn't know how serious until she told him.
Grace has cancer.
Those three words.
It took him a while for him to comprehend what Eve had told him.
No, not Grace he thought. But then it finally sunk in and hit him hard like someone had punched him in the stomach so he couldn't breathe. And at that moment in time, Boyd felt angry. Angry because he wondered why Grace hadn't told him. He could probably understand why she hadn't told him but for her to lie to him, that he couldn't understand.
Boyd needed to go and see her. He needed to know why she hadn't told him however he knew he had to stay with Eve and process the crime scene.
But this was more important. Grace was more important. Eve knew that and so without discussion Boyd went on his way to the hospital.
