Baby Tooth wanted to see Frost so bad! Seconds turned to minuets and minuets to hours and hours to days and then days to weeks. It had been three weeks since she has been separated from her best buddy.
As of late, the fairies have been working non-stop to cover for the European division after they had been plagued by a horrible virus. Some were once again able to work, but most were still out and recovering. At this rate weeks will turn into months.
Toothiana was over-worked and extremely stressed…sort of psychotic in a way. Jack hadn't been by in a while for a visit. Baby Tooth guessed he was too busy spreading winter and couldn't find the time. It was that time of the year again. The small creature let out a sigh as she continued to work. She delivered her teeth she had collected and then was sent out once more to scout out more memories. This time she traveled to New York. It was her favorite place to be outside of her home. All the lights and sounds mesmerized her; the people hustling and bustling about that filled the streets and sidewalks.
As she flew through the city, a very cold and fast wind came out of nowhere. It hit her with such a great force that it rattled her wings and she did a tumble in the air. Baby Tooth looked up at the sky and noticed that a once cloudless sky now could be seen with grey clouds rolling in. The clouds opened up and it began to snow.
Jack must be near! Her wings glittered in the streetlight as they fluttered furiously searching for her best buddy, the white haired mischievous winter spirit.
Her attempt was fruitless. She chirped sadly for she could not find him. She decided to return to her work and she lugged through the skies.
"Looking for me?" Came a voice nearest the rooftop next to her. She wheeled around to find Jack Frost standing there leaning against his staff with a playful smile scrawled across his face. His eyes shone with their usual impishness. Baby Tooth chirped with delight and shot towards him like a cannon. Jack laughed as Baby Tooth gripped his nose in her version of a hug.
"Good to see you too. It's been a while," he noted, "I've tried to visit, but Toothiana would just not have it. She was very irritable. She sent me out before I could even breathe a word." Baby Tooth was still secured to his nose.
He let out a small chuckle, "I hear you guys have been working overtime." Baby Tooth reluctantly detached herself from Jack's nose and hovered just above his eyes. The winter spirit's eyes went cross eyed as he looked at her.
"You should finish your visits," he told her gesturing into the night air with his staff. Baby Tooth's wings slowed, and her usual radiant smile started to fade. She knew he was right, but she didn't want to leave him. Not yet.
Jack watched her as she looked at him with pleading eyes, "Tell you what," he said, "I'll come with you. As you work, I can spread some winter cheer. Whatdya' say?" Baby Tooth did giddy circles in the air. Jack took that as a yes.
The two spent the rest of the night together, collecting teeth and spreading winter. The night eventually came to an end and the two had to yet again separate.
"It's time for you to head back. Toothiana will start to get worried if you don't return soon." Jack stated as he lay in the freshly fallen snow. Baby Tooth hadn't realized just how long they had been out. They ran around for almost the whole night. She chirped sadly and once again gripped his nose.
"I'll see you again soon. That's a promise," Jack said. This made Baby Tooth feel better. She started to fly off when Jack called, "See ya layer, little buddy." He smiled and waved and she did too.
She turned back to face the now bitter cold sky and embarked on the long journey home.
