"Road under construction, closed until further notice." Read Otto. He and the gang surveyed the scene. A brand new road, smooth as a babies ass, and sharply sloping down in the direction of the pier. It was dangerous. It was deserted. It was irresistible. Once by one they ducked under yellow tape and took their places at the top of the hill.
"Uh…guys? Are you sure about this?" Mused Sam.
"Sure I'm sure!" Laughed Twister.
"Last one down there's got to kiss Lars!" Shreiked Otto as he pushed off hard and started downward. That got everyone moving!
Otto was in first place, approaching 45 mph. Reggie and Twister were tied for second, with Sam bringing up the rear and more preoccupied with staying alive than winning the race. Twister began to pull ahead of Reggie just as Otto reached the bottom of the hill.
"That was great!" Laughed Otto.
"Yeah yeah yeah, lets just get out of here before officer Shirley busts us!" hissed Reggie.
"Oh, I think someone's a sore looser!" Smirked Twister
"Looser?! I didn't even loose! Speaking of where's Sam?"
"He's ri-ARGH!" No sooner had Twister opened his mouth when the Squid himself plowed into him at full speed. However, this is Sam we're talking about and 'full speed' isn't saying much.
"Here I am…" He moaned, disentangling himself from Twisters helmet.
"Come on!" Reggie pulled Twister and Sam up and started off towards the pier. Unlike the boys, Reggie was oddly quiet as they made their way towards the shore shack. Why had Twister beaten her? She knew she was no Otto Rocket, but still. She ran over the race in her head. She had done everything right. Maybe if I had a better board…She looked down at her skateboard. Nah. Then it hit her. Maybe if I weren't so heavy...if I were lighter, I bet I could go faster…She thought about it all the way down to the Shore Shack, and would continue to think about it until late that night.
At five foot two inches, Reggie weighed a healthy one hundred and five pounds. But as she stood before her mirror, she seemed to get fatter and fatter by the second.
"A diet wouldn't hurt…" She whispered to herself.
