Chapter 1:
Peter Parker and Jessica Knight were the school outcasts; unpopular, awkward and nerdy. Jessica was silently reading the Bible and Peter was working on Math.
"You know Peter… I think that I'll skip Sociology for today."
Peter looked up and saw Jessica's chubby face looking at him.
"You've been missing lots of classes," Peter remarked.
Jessica smiled, "I'm being bad."
Peter chuckled and glanced at the Bible. "And you're reading the Bible."
"The old testament to be exact," Jessica said with a chuckle. Peter grinned and remembered how he and Jess became friends at the start of the semester during Chemistry Lab.
"What's so funny, Parker?" Jessica said with mock. "You're not an atheist, are you?"
"I don't think so," Peter said, loving the dimples on her face.
"Okay, then. I'll see you at Calcus." Jessica got her satchel and hugged him.
"And please be careful with that skateboard!" Jessica looked at the black eye on his left eye.
"I will!" The look he gave Jessica made her hear skip a beat. Her cheeks coloured slightly and she gave Peter a small wave.
As, she made her way to English Class, she found Carlos blocking her way.
"Hi, Carlos," Jess mumbled.
"Why are you talking to him?"
"Peter's my best friend," Jess stated locking her blue eyes with Carlos' green ones.
Carlos laughed. "He lies to you."
Jessica shrugged. "I don't need to know from where he gets all his bruises from or why he skips classes."
Carlos grabbed her wrists and Jessica tried to wriggle away.
"Why do you trust him? Wasn't I good enough for you. I loved you."
"Because of you Clare is dead."
"No," Carlos said haughtily. "You killed her, everyone blames you."
"I need to go to English." Jessica squirmed out of his grasp and jogged away, feeling pain on her hands.
"See you at 12 at the library!" he shouted.
She ignored him but when she turned around the corner, her heart nearly exploded with adrenaline, as she found Flash grinning.
"Hello Jessica!"
