As Rei felt the blast go through her, flashes of memories flew before her eyes. It was like she was outside her body, watching the events before. She saw Ami, Minako, and Makoto fall, and then saw her own body fall to the ground.
"Why? For us?" Healer asked the fallen soldiers, her voice sounding far away.
"To protect the ones that are important" Mercury said weakly.
"Important to you?" Maker asked.
"Sailor Moon and the Starlights are very important to us." Venus said, her voice sounding weak.
"Even if you're going to die?" Fighter asked, the emotion apparent in her voice.
"Please.. in our place, protect Usagi and this world." Jupiter said.
Rei saw Sailor Moon rush to her body and hold it as it was fading away.
"Wait! Don't leave me!" she cried, tears rushing down her face.
Rei saw flashes of memories in her mind. The first time she met Usagi.. when she found out she was Sailor Mars and Usagi was Sailor Moon.. when Usagi and her were fighting.. the times Usagi was there for all of them..
Rei returned to her body and felt herself saying "Don't be a crybaby." she said to her.
"You promised that we'd be together to the end!" Moon said, the tears falling faster.
"Stupid.. you have Mamoru." she replied, and felt herself fading away.
Usagi cried harder and reached out to grab the swirling balls of gold that were all that was left of Mars.
Memories of their times together floated through her mind.
'Please, Rei, don't leave me!' she thought to herself.
A voice pierced through her mind. "We'll always be with you, Usagi. Don't give up hope! Defeat her!" Rei said to her.
'I will, Rei!' she said and stood to face Galaxia.
Somewhere, in a sunny, golden place, Rei smiled and turned to the others.
"She'll be fine. I know she can do it." she said to Makoto, Minako, Ami, Mamoru, and ChibiUsa.
They all smiled and looked up to a bright golden sun.
