Irritation. That's the only thing that goes through chiara's mind as she slams the phone down onto the table. She looks at the plates she set up just for the two of them only to be met with another disappointment.
Tears sting her eyes as she realizes she's spending another night alone. She was looking forward to a nice dinner with get husband, Antonio but once again he lets her down.
Why did she expect any different? He always is working and being the human representative of Spain wasn't helping at all.
She can't blame him but at the same time she feels like he's married to his work.
With the feeling of loneliness setting in, the meals she made suddenly feel unappetizing and she has the urge to throw it out.
"…that bastard…" She mutters as she cleans up. Her sister will want to take the leftovers so the only good out if this is the potential bonding moment. Other than that, tonight became another self loathing waste.
Chiara decides to order a small takeout from the nearest Chinese restaurant and sits on her living room.
She can't take it anymore. Why does she put up with Antonio when they're hardly together anymore? He's always away now.
Why couldn't things stay the same? It was perfect for the first few months after they married and they were planning to adopt some children but as time went on Antonio was absent more and more until one day he was hardly around.
Maybe it's her sullen mood but the meal has an almost bitter taste to it. Each bite feels forced and her stomach feels like it's protesting.
She eats as much as she can and with a defeated look the small almost empty boxes are placed in the brown bag.
Despite how upset she is, the food wasn't that bad. It was a little greasy but it was alright.
Just how exactly is she going to spend the rest of this miserable night? Her home is void of any kind of warmth or comfort and she just wants to go curl up into a ball and cry.
The phone interrupts her misery and she's greeted with the sweet voice of her younger sister, Felicia.
"Sorella?" Her voice sounds a little weakened. A weak cough fills the silence, indicating that the northern half is sick. "Could you please fill in for me tomorrow? I'm sick. " the pout in her voice is clear and chiara can picture her sister's bright amber eyes sparkling in just the right moment that when combined with a pout, make the cutest puppy dog-like look. "It will mean a lot. "
"What is it?" Chiara is cautious at first. She knows her kind sister loves to volunteer to cheer up children and has even gone to hospitals just to read to a child. It was more than a maternal instinct. She just has an incredibly large heart.
"I was going to meet up with Ludwig and a few others. I know you don't like him that much, but Kiku will be there too. Aren't you two friends? What about Arthur?"
Chiara inwardly cringes at Felicia's assumptions. Yes, she isn't fond of Ludwig, but he only got on her nerves. Kiku was weird to her but, his awkwardness was tolerable. Arthur was a different story. While they could tolerate each other long enough for small talk, the previous tension he had with Antonio made things awkward. Granted countries can be friends one day or enemies another, awkwardness still remains. Sometimes Chiara feels like he gave her pity when she was hit with disappointment.
"Since I know you're going to beg, fine…" Chiara rubs her temples as she feels a headache from the idea.
Unbeknownst to Chiara, something was planned.
