There, in the darkness

There, in the darkness, a lonely man wept.

There, in the darkness, his angel inside slept.

Until one day, he heard a voice,

singing alone, by choice.

There, in the darkness, the man listened intently.

There, in the darkness, the voice echoed gently.

So beautiful, the voice, so beautiful and free!

Why? The man thought, Why can't that be me?

There, in the darkness, the dark man decided.

There, in the darkness, hearing wouldn't be one-sided.

For surely a person whose voice was so sweet and so pure,

was an angel from heaven, with the ability to cure.

There, in the darkness, to his angel he taught.

There, in the darkness, it was all for naught.

He soon fell in love with his savior,

but alas, she fell for a man with better behavior.

There, in the darkness, surrounded by night,

there, in the darkness, alone by devil's might,

he kidnapped his savior and her lover, and threatened to kill him.

He could have taken her lover's life on a whim.

There, in the darkness, his savior gave him a kiss.

There, in the darkness, the man was filled with endless bliss.

He decided he would let her go free,

But in his heart he knew, She loved me.

There, in the darkness, something burned hot and bright.

There, in the darkness, came forth a light.

Somehow the man knew he could cope,

because that light, however faint, was hope.
