All was silent as before

All silent save the dripping rain.

? POV

The shadow was always at the edge of my vision, taunting me. I had had trouble the first few days, stumbling around half blind searching for food. A giant reptile had almost killed me until I threatened it with the sword thing on my back. Yet now, even with my sight back to normal and my motor functions working, I had no idea why I was in this humid jungle with a backpack strapped on my shoulder and a mechanised sword on my hip. The last thing I remembered was rain on my face. Falling and falling until I wondered if the heavens would burst. Then they had.

Remembering hurt too much. Better to hunt. I had caught a few weaselly creatures in the jungle and there was plenty of fresh water which was strange. It almost seemed as if the jungle was designed to survive in. That was impossible -The shadow darted past my eyes. Only this time, it wasn't something half imagined but an actual person.

"Hey," I called out. "Is anyone there?"

For some inexplicable reason, I though he felt a droplet of water fall on my head. I looked up at the blue and white sky and that was when the shadow struck.

The club crashed into my stomach, winding me. I lashed out with my fist at the attacker and felt a satisfying thunk. There was blood on my fist. The shadow, no, the boy fell onto the yellow grass. He was no older then I was. I pulled out the blade. I had done this before. No big deal.

I slid the sword close to his trembling neck.

"What's your name?" The boy croaked with his last breath.

"Rain"

This is my first time making a fanfiction and I know it's short but I want to see what people think of my writing style. What do you readers want, a love story, a haunting past or a bright future? Please favourite, follow, review and let me know :D
