Gaius rushes to his unconscious wards side. Was he dead or alive? Gaius's heart beat furiously in his ribcage at the thought.

He shakes Merlin hoping with all his heart that he will wake up.

Gaius sighs in relief as he does although he is a little concerned as Merlin's unfocused, calm look. Seeing as Arthur was about to be drowned and sacrificed to some weird dead people Merlin really shouldn't be so happy.

Merlin suddenly jumps up from the floor and promptly falls into Gaius.

"Woah!" Gaius said, helping Merlin back to the floor. "Sit, you're not going anywhere in this condition."

"Huh? Why would I go anywhere, mother? I'm quite comfy on the floor." Merlin's expression became confused then annoyed. "Which reminds me I gotta go sweep Arthur's floors... AGAIN! Bye, Gaius." He started to get up again but Gaius pushed him down while trying not to laugh.

"You're not going anywhere."

"Why ever not?"

"How many fingers am I holding up?" Merlin tries to focus on Gaius's hand.

"Um... three and a half?"

"Exacly." A look of shock crosses Merlin's face and is replaced by awe.

"Really? You held up three and a half fingers exactly? I didn't think you had half a finger... how the devil did you do that?"

"No! Exactly as in you got the answer wrong so you do have a concussion."Gaius sighed exasperatedly.

"Percussion? No I don't play, can't keep rhythm." Merlin immediately started playing an imaginary drum in midair. Gaius sighed once again before Merlin hit his wrinkled forehead as an imaginary symbol.

"Merlin!"

"What?"

"Snap out of it... you need to save Arthur!"

"Arthur? I don't know an Arthur.... OH!" Gaius raises his eyebrow even higher than usual. "I do know an Arthur... he's that obnoxious prat that I have to save all the time ... oh no! He ran away with that pretty girl and her father! Really if you want to chat up someone you really shouldn't bring your father along... bit of a turn off if you ask me..."

"Merlin!"

"Right! Arthur!" Merlin jumps up again but this time manages to stay balanced. He pats Gaius on the shoulder and runs off.

"Merlin!"

"Yes?"

"Wrong way!"

"... Just testing."
