--How I wish
How I wish you were here
We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl
Year after year
Running over the same old ground
What have we found
The same old fears
Wish you were here--
Hinata couldn't hide the pain that tore her soul apart, couldn't hide the tears that streamed down her face. The village of Konoha was dark and stormy, the villagers all adorned in black. His fox-like grin, his beautiful blue eyes, and her regret. They haunted her, taunted her. The pictures surrounding the casket that held his body only made things worse. The memories of his persistence, how he always believed in her, always cheered for her in battle. Her sobs were heard over the crowd. Sadness radiated through the village. He never knew of her love for him. She had tried to tell him the day he had left on his mission, but he was in a hurry and asked her to wait until he came back. Now he would never know
Kiba tried to comfort Hinata. He embraced her and she sobbed into his shoulder. He promised himself that day that Sasuke would die. It hurt him to see Hinata cry like this. And Naruto was his best friend. Sasuke would pay for taking the future hokage from Konoha. He would kill Sasuke if it was the last thing he did.
Sakura hated him, loathed him, detested him. He killed his best friend, HER best friend. She had loved Sasuke, tried to help him. How could he do this to her? Naruto was gone from her life forever, and the last thing she told him was that she hated him. The pain in his eyes when he left her caused her heart to ache, but she was too stubborn to say anything. She fell to her knees and cried into her hands.
Konohamaru skipped the funeral. He couldn't bear the pain of losing Naruto, the closest thing he had to a brother. A couple of years ago he had to endure the pain of losing his grandfather, and now this? It was all to much! He punched the wall, and then slammed his back against it. He let out a wail of pain. He had no one. Sure, he had friends, but he had no family any longer. Sasuke would die for this.
Sasuke walked back to Orochimaru's castle through the woods. He felt so much pain. He remembered the look in his eyes as he helplessly pleaded for Sasuke to stop. For him to remember all that they had been through together. But Sasuke relentlessly kept walking toward him with the long sword in his hand. As he stabbed his friend, bringing him to his death, he felt an instant regret. The feeling never left him. Even now, Naruto had been his best friend. He still felt that bond after he left Konoha. Naruto was only trying to help him. He stopped and sat by a large tree. He did all of this for revenge on his brother. He killed the one person who had truly cared for him. He was as bad as his brother. As he plunged a kunai deep into his chest, a single tear rolled down Sasuke's face. "I'm so sorry." He muttered with his last breath.
