Title: Turning Point
Drabble: #44
Rave's prompt: Techno
Randomly selected pairing: Jyoumi
Disclaimer: I don't own Digimon.
Notes: I feel really sad and useless and like maybe I ought to just go jump off a building. But I want my exam results first.

To this day, Jyou can't remember what provoked him to go to that party. He wasn't, and still isn't, a party person, so to speak; anyone who knows him even a little bit will agree. So there must have been something which made him want to go, despite the fact that he knew he wouldn't like being surrounded by people doing nothing but smoking, drinking and getting stoned.

After all, that's what university students were supposed to do. Three years of parties, with an exam at the end of it all and the student would walk away with a degree. Simple.

But Jyou does remember that this particular party was both his first and his last. He turned up somewhat reluctantly with his roommates, who had scattered as soon as they entered the house leaving Jyou on his own. He knows that he hated the atmosphere even before he got there; he could hear the loud, thumping music before the house was even in view, and with each step closer he took the floor seemed to vibrate more. When the door opened the noise must have tripled in volume, and the stench of cigarettes and drugs was overpowering.

Then he'd seen her, and there had been no going back. She was beautiful, completely in her element; swaying violently to the beat of the techno music, not caring who she hit or whose way she got in. Her pink hair was bouncing wildly and her entire body was moving, and Jyou could tell instantly that she was really letting herself go. It was amazing.

And now, as he stands at the front of the church with shaking hands, as he hears the organ start to play that familiar tune and the rows of family and friends rise to stand, he knows he made the right decision when he asked her for her name all those years ago. Mimi Tachikawa, and soon to be Mimi Kido. Jyou couldn't be happier.
