Disclaimer: I own XF. Thats right. I won 'em in a game of Go Fish. Yep, CC had a little too much to drink that night and kept asking for 13s. LOL. Y'all know Im just kidding. The X-files and all its characters belong to Chris Carter and 1013. Y'all know the rest. Now enjoy the story!
She sat at her desk and stared at the words she had written. She was unsure. Not of herself, but of the letter and whether or not it would reach its destination. It was addressed:
Mr. George Hale
P.O. Box 1616
Allendale, SC 10616
There was neither a return address nor real names used. The address wasn't even permanent. He would get the letter, change the address and send the new one in a letter responding to hers. It was the safest way they could think to communicate since their e-mail was now being monitored (as well as several other electronic devices).
She now had everything she'd wanted in the past- her own office, her own desk, her own name-plate, and people no longer gave her weird looks in the hall because she worked with "Spooky Mulder." She had everything that would've made her at least somewhat happier in the past. But all this had cost her something she was never prepared to give up (and still isn't)- him. She missed him; every time she looked at their son, William, she thought of him. She loved him. Although she had written it numerous times in her letters, she desperately wanted to tell him in person. Maybe one day it'll be safe, she thought; she hoped.
Suddenly, the phone rang, startling her out of her thoughts.
"Scully," she answered.
"It's me."
"Mulder! It's not safe for you to be calling here!"
"It's over, Dana."
"Mulder, what do you mean it's over? I thought-"
He cut her off, "I mean it's over for me. I'm not hiding anymore. You know just as well as I do that I'm not gonna be safe anywhere I go and I can't run forever. I miss you and I miss William. I want to come home."
She sighs; she is reluctant to say yes. "Mulder…"
"Please Dana…" He's begging now. She can almost see him making that Sad Puppy Dog Face on the other end.
She is still a little reluctant, "Okay… but please be careful."
"I will." And neither of them being good with goodbyes, hung up.
Note: Chapter 2 will be added soon. Im just having a little writer's block. O, and FEEDBACK ya'll! This is the first story I've ever actually completed. Id like to know what you think of it!!!
