That should have been her getting out of the limo.

That should have been her on the red carpet in a dress that was fit for royalty.

That should have been her perfect hair, body, and make up.

That should have been her everyone was staring at.

That should have been her giggling as Chase lovingly kissed her cheek.

That should have been her kissing Chase in return.

That should have been her being nominated for an Academy Award.

That should have been her life.

But it wasn't.

She didn't have a critically acclaimed director for a dad and an Oscar winning actress for a mom. Her parents were to busy being Europe's Eas delegates.

Chase would never lovingly kiss her on the cheek because he didn't love her. And she would never kiss him back because she didn't love him.

At least that's what she told herself.

Because telling herself anything else would be outright horrible to Rory.

Rory, her best friend.

The first person to forgive her.

Which is why she absolutely hated herself for envying Rory in such a way.

Rory would never do that.

Rory would happily congratulate her on her achievement.

Rory would have fully gotten over Chase just for her sake. It wouldn't have even mattered if they ended it, Rory would most likely refuse to date him just because she had.

Rory wouldn't be moping around her apartment in sweats because her best friend was nominated for an Oscar. She would have arranged for a viewing party of some sort and would have been eating something other that ice cream straight out of the tub.

But she wasn't Rory.

Rory was at the Academy Awards.

Rory was famous.

Rory was in a stable relationship.

Rory was happy.

Charlotte Adelaide Eleanor Radcliffe was not feeling all that happy at the moment.

She wished she did.

She wished she could be completely over Chase.

She wished she had arranged some kind of viewing party or had attended the one being thrown by Lena.

She wished she could be a proper best friend.
