A bird in a gilded cage.

A Clover story written by: Tear Drops

A/N; This is my first Clover story, and I hope you enjoy it. I have written more CardCaptor Sakura then others. So please don't sue me! No, Clover does not belong to me. It belongs to the wonderfully artistic people at CLAMP. This story was inspired by an old song I found called 'A bird in a gilded cage'. I've only read up to book 2. . Please R &R

Kazuhiko Fay Ryu walked down the deserted streets. It had been almost a year since Suu had been destroyed. He still moped about, seeing no sense. Why did they die and he hadn't? What terrible thing did he do that cause the gods to keep him alive and suffer?

Walking into a pub, he sat down and ordered some drinks for himself. Gingetsu and Ran (or C) were hanging out at home, worried about Kazuhiko's deep depression.

A soft song began to play on the radio. He blinked at the words and began to listened quietly, holding his drink in one hand,

'She's a bird in a gilded cage... a beautiful sight to see'

As he listened, his mind wandered to Suu. 'She was a bird in a cage too.... and she was beautiful,...."

'You may think she's happy and free from care.'

"Yea.... I thought that....."

'She's not, though she seems to be...'

"That was true.... she never was truly happy... "

'Tis sad when you think of her wasted life... for youth cannot mate with old...'

"God, does this song have to read my every thought!?" he yelled mentally at himself. After calming, another thought popped up.

"Maybe it's a sign."

'And her beauty was sold for an old man's gold'

"Suu..... I wonder...."

'She's a bird in a gilded cage.....'

The song ended and Kazuhiko stood. Paying for his drinks, he left the pub and walked down to the late Fairy Park. Everything lay in ruins. With careful steps, he walked through the rubble. The carasole... the winged horse.... her feelings to him... God, this place brought back so many memories. A single tear streaked down his rough face.

"Grown men don't cry" He reminded himself.

Coming to the remains of the statue, he stared off into space, just thinking. Flashbacks of all the times he's been through in less then a year replayed in his mind.

He turned around suddenly when a finger tapped on his shoulder. There, behind him, stood a young girl with light blonde hair and evergreen eyes. Her neck had a ring about it, with a small clover hanging off. Kazuhiko blinked. Those eyes... they were Suu's eyes.

"Excuse me Sir, but have you seen a young man here? He had dark hair in a small ponytail and dark wonderful eyes. He was very tall, or compared to me he was. I believe his name was....

..... Kazuhiko."

"Suu....?"

A smile played on her lips. "Yes?"

Kazuhiko couldn't take it anymore. He ran over and hugged her, burying his face in her hair. "Oh god Suu..... I've been a wreck since you left...."

She giggled. "I know, my Kazuhiko, I know."
