Tony had just finished lunch with a colleague. He was walking out of the bakery, making amiable conversation as the two walked out as he saw his colleague do a double take across the road. Curious as always, he turned his head to see what had caused for the stop in conversation.

It had to be a dream. He had to be dreaming - she wasn't due back for weeks. He was supposed to suffer from loneliness for a while more. But he wouldn't, because his wife was standing across the road from him smiling.

Handing his tools to his colleague whom he could honestly care less about at this point. He ran across the road, briefly checking traffic. It wouldn't do for him to die before he could hold his wife again. She stepped off the wall she had been using to support herself and opened her arms, pulling him against her. They stayed wrapped in each other's arms until their arms began to give out. Pulling back, they looked each other in the eye, studying the other as if they had forgotten their appearance.

Eilis could read the silent question in Tony's eye. It was buried beneath bundles of joy and vivid disbelief, but it was there. "Why had she come home early? Did something go wrong?"

"I had to come home," she answered without him vocalizing his question. "Ireland isn't home anymore. You are," she whispered the last two words so that Tony strained to hear them, but he did. His breath hitched and he brushed a non existent curl out of her face with his thumb.

"Say it again for I fear I just hallucinated. I need to hear it again," he whispered short of breath.

"Ireland isn't home anymore. You are. You are my family and I needed to be here. With you." Eilis' eyes didn't leave Tony's for they both felt that if one broke eye contact with the other, they would disappear again, only to be heard from by letter.

Eilis' words hung in the air for what felt like hours before Tony stepped closer to her once again, using his hold on her cheek to guide her mouth towards his. The moment that their lips touched everything else faded away. Rose, her mother, her trip, Jim - none of it mattered any more. They were both home.

I hope to continue this story on my free time. This was meant as a preview as I hate when chapters don't hit 1k. This is planned to be continuation off of the last scene in the movie (at least that gave us some closure with Tony, the book drove me mad). Be aware that this is a work in progress, do not expect frequent updates.
