Left for Dead

I swore that I would slay any who threaten those under my care. And I did. You swore that we would be together until the end of time. Where are you now? I stand alone on this battlefield with nothing but my trusty crossbow. I prepare myself for what I know is about to come…my demise.

I now ride my horse further into Wei territory. At first I went unnoticed, until my red armor started shining because of the rain. A large unit of soldiers came running at me. I then step off of my horse and started releasing arrows into the air.

By time I was in attack range of the swordsmen, all of the archers and cavalryman had been killed. I now shook in fear. How could it be that I was not dead yet? None of the enemy's archers had managed to successfully pierce my flesh with their arrows. Maybe I am to live to see another day after all!

The entire unit has now been defeated. I now look around me to see if I have missed someone. I then mount my horse and travel further into enemy territory.

Time passed and the sky grew darker. I decided to set up camp in the forest so that I was not easily seen. I then gathered some wood. I brought my crossbow just in case of an emergency. It turns out that I will need it. When I turned around, I saw the enemy commander standing right before my eyes with a unit of soldiers standing around him. Again, fear consumed my body. "You have a choice to make. You can either come back to Wei with me or you can die a painful death right now." I had no trouble at all making my decision. "I am loyal only to Wu and I shall protect those whom belong to it." I then prepared to fight him. "For that reason, I cannot lose. Prepare yourself!" He then smirked. "I guess all people from Wu are fools. If you can even call them people." His men then charged at me. I shot them all down easily, but when I looked out into the open, he was gone.

I then picked up the shards of wood and started walking back to my horse. The next thing I knew, excruciating pain flooded my body. The pain brought me to my knees. When I looked down, I saw the commander's blade piercing my stomach. Not wanting to die with this in me, I cried out as I yanked it from my abdomen. The world around me began to fade as I saw I bright light. I then realized what was happening. I was finally going to be able to see my lady again. I welcomed this light for I knew that I was now dead. But I also realized that I had been left for dead.
