Great! Just great, Belladonna thought. Thirteen dwarves and a wizard in her kitchen, no food left in the pantry, mud everywhere, and, to top it off, Thorin "Grumpy" Oakensheild had absolutely no respect for Belladonna, WHATSOEVER! She barely listened as the dwarves spoke;

Balin(?): "What of the meeting in… (Something like Ared Lewin)? Did they all come?"

Thorin: "Aye. Envoys from all seven kingdoms"

Dwalin(Or so she thought): "And what did the Dwarves of the Iron Hills say? Is Dane (?) with us?"

Thorin: (After a deep breath. Was he nervous? Embarrassed?) "They will not come. They say this quest is ours and ours alone."

That ignited Belladonna's curiosity. "What kind of quest?" she inquired.

"Belladonna, my lady, let us have a little more light," Gandalf requested. (He was the wizard.)

Belladonna snatched a candle off of the mantelpiece and lit it as Gandalf unfolded a map, saying, "Far to the east, over ranges and rivers, lies a single solitary peak."

Belladonna held the candle between Thorin and Gandalf to see better. She made sure not to burn either of them as she recited; "The Lonely Mountain."

GLOIN(?): "Oin has read the portents, and the portents say it is time."

OIN: "Ravens have been seen flying back to the mountain, as it was foretold: 'When the birds of yore return to Erebor, the reign of The Beast will end."

Belladonna backed off a bit. "W-What beast?"

BOFUR: "Well that would be a reference to Smaug the Terrible, chiefest and greatest calamity of our age-"

THORIN: "Shut up, Bofur!"

Belladonna was surprised. No one else seemed annoyed with what Bofur had been saying. But then… Thorin was the only one watching Belladonna… Forget it! Belladonna said to herself. Why would he like you? You're not even a dwarf.

And yet, she could not help but notice the concern in Thorin's startlingly blue eyes.
