Hello, my loving readers! Welcome to the first chapter of my first story! I hope you will enjoy the changes I have made!
To all of my new readers...
Enjoy!
I DO NOT OWN THE TEEN TITANS!
The sun arose on a chilly, autumn day. The sky appeared as a light pink and red-orange color. You could almost see the disappointment in the air, as if it hanged down like a fog. Teens everywhere cried in misery.
It was the start of a new year, the first day of school.
The sun brought new life to Jump City. Even in the early morning, the metropolitan city bustled with traffic and people heading to their jobs. The birds happily sang their morning songs and the cool breeze whistled through the tall buildings and roads. Today brought new life to the city. But for Kori Anders, it only brought a wave of anxiety.
Kori awoke to the birds, like she always had. Today was her first day at her new school, Jump City High. And she wasn't looking forward to it. She had a restless sleep, her anxiety boiling within her. She arose from her bed and dragged her feet to the bathroom, where she got ready for the coming day. Once she was dressed, she hopped down the stairs to see her Knorfka Galfore cooking her breakfast. He was wearing a white t-shirt with black sweat pants. Kori could smell the eggs and toast cooking all the way from her room, making her mouth water. Galfore saw her coming down the stairs and beamed his wide smile. "Good morning, my little Star! How are you feeling this fine morning?" He stated elatedly with his booming voice. Kori smiled at the utterance of her nickname. Her Knorfka had always called her that because to him, her eyes shined like the stars. "I am doing okay, Knorfka…" She responded sadly. Galfore caught the sadness in her voice. "Do not worry about today" He assured, "I know you will make many new friends!" He stated happily. Kori smiled sadly and sat down at the breakfast bar and sighed. From the six months that she had been in Jump, she had made no friends yet. As much as she wanted to believe her uncle, her head filled with doubt. "Where is Koma?" She questioned. Galfore's face darkened slightly. "She left early this morning" He sighed unapprovingly. He placed his hand on his forehead, "Do not worry over her, Star, I'll make sure she is alright." He breathed out. The two remained silent, feeling Koma's absence. Unlike Kori, Koma instantly took to the new country and has gained many friends. She often would go out to party late at night with her friends and come home drunk. It worried both Kori and Galfore, since she never was one to disobey the rules in Tamaran. "I hope she is alright" Kori sighed. Galfore turned back to his breakfast "I do too, Star…" He agreed.
Kori sat in her uncle's white SUV, the anxiety of the day to follow overwhelming her. Galfore had insisted on driving her to school, although she had her license already. Galfore pulled up to a parking spot, allowing her to exit the vehicle. "I'll pick you up after school, if you wish." Galfore stated. Kori smiled at his kindness. "That would be fine. I will call you after school to inform you of my day. Good day, Knorfka." She sighed as she walked off. She looked back only once to see her uncle driving away, as she was pulled into the endless mob of students.
The hallways were bursting at the seams with students making their way throughout the school. For Kori, it was an endless maze of turns and corners. She barely knew which way was which. After a while passed, she decided to stop and ask someone were to go, no matter how embarrassing it would be. She stopped by a group of girls who were walking past her. They were led by a short, blonde girl with pink lips. Kori examined the group, gathering her courage and approached them quickly. "Excuse me, but do you know where Mr. Light's room is?" Kori asked shyly, trying hard to hide her real accent. The blonde girl turned toward her irritably and scoffed. "Excuse you for interrupting my conversation!" Kori bowed her head. "Forgive me, friend. I did not mean to bother you." The girl rolled her eyes. "First off, I am not your friend. Second, why would I help some loser like you?" The others of her group snickered and giggled as Kori scurried off. She had turned the corner and was on the verge of tears. "Why are people so mean in this country?" Kori thought. She hugged herself as she laid against the wall of the hallway. She could hear the girls giggling and whispering, most likely talking about her. She shook her head, trying to stay positive, but all she wanted to do was to go home and cry in her bed.
While Kori laid back and listened to the girls laughing, she saw in the corner of her eye a small figure passing by. Even though most of her courage was gone from her previous encounter, she had to get to class. Kori approached the figure. "Excuse me…Could you point me in the direction of Mr. Light's classroom?" Kori asked. The small figure was actually a girl in all dark clothing, appearing no taller than 5'2ft. The girl examined Kori and replied monotonously. "It's down the hall." The girl pointed. Kori smiled brightly. "Thank you, friend! You are truly most kind!" She thanked and hurried to her class, leaving the girl behind.
Kori made it to class but was greeted by the blonde and a few of her friends. They sat in the front rows, talking about the latest gossip. When Kori walked in they immediately took notice. Kori ducked her head and walked quickly passed them. "Hey new girl, you might want to sit in the back. It's where all the losers sit." The blonde stated. Her friends laughed, while the blonde girl grinned. Kori turned away quickly and tried to hold back her tears. She started to make her way to the back when she heard a voice from behind her. "Why don't you leave her alone, Kitten?" Kori turned to see the same girl from the hallway, her face stern. The blonde called Kitten rolled her eyes. "Oh no! We better listen to Goth girl. The witch might turn us into stone!" Kitten joked sarcastically as her friends busted into laughter. The girl narrowed her eyes as Kitten scoffed and turned back to Kori. "Looks like you fit right in with the losers, new girl." The Goth girl ignored the laughter from the other girls and motioned for Kori to follow her.
Kori stood in awe of the girl and gave her a sad smile. "Thank you, friend. You are very courageous to stand up for someone you know little of." The girl nodded. "I know what it's like to deal with Kitten and her friends." She stated. "I assume you are new here?" The girl questioned. Kori smiled nervously. "Yes, friend. It must have been made obvious due to the name that this Kitten called." The girl grinned. "I could tell from when you first talked to me in the hallway, not from Kitten." The girl chuckled, the seriousness slightly leaving her voice.
When the two made it to the back, Kori backed up slightly and stopped. She stared at her. "You would not mind if I sit by you?" Kori replied nervously. The girl stopped and gave thought to her question. She shrugged slightly. "Sure… I don't mind." The girl replied hesitantly. Kori squealed softly with delight. "Thank you, friend! We should most likely learn each other's names since we will be sitting near each other. I am Kori Anders." The girl studied Kori and replied. "Rachel. Rachel Roth." Kori smiled widely. "It is glorious to meet you, Rachel!"
During a boring lecture about the new school year from Mr. Light, Kori and Rachel ended up talking to each other. After a thorough examination of Kori, Rachel noticed how kind and polite Kori acted. It was off-putting at first, but Rachel slowly started to accept it. "Do you have anyone to sit with at lunch today?" Rachel asked. Kori shook her head slowly. Kori noticed how Rachel thought carefully about her answer. "I have a group of friends you could meet after class. You can sit with us if you like…" Rachel stated. Kori's face lit up brightly. "That sounds wonderful! I would love to meet your friends!" Kori said giddily.
Kori accompanied Rachel after class to meet some of her friends. Rachel and Kori walked quickly through the maze of a school made it to an open area of the school called the Commons. Rachel led Kori to a sitting area, where other kids were sitting at a round table. When they approached the group, the students immediately recognized Rachel and waved to her. "What's up Rae?" a small blonde boys shouted happily. Rachel rolled her eyes. "Hello Gar." She stated. "Yo, what's up girlfriend? We didn't see you this morning." A large African American boy said. "Yeah, we were getting worried sick!" A tall girl sitting next to the African American boy added. "Well, well! Our favorite Goth girl arrived! I thought you wouldn't show up today!" A small, red haired boy shouted and then came running up to Rachel. Noticing Kori behind Rachel, the boy cocked his head to the side and grinned. "Well, I haven't seen you here before! Did Rachel deem you worthy to be a part of our little group?" The boy questioned. Kori beamed at the new face. "This is Kori. This is her first day here and I thought it would be okay for her to sit with us." Rachel replied. The boy grinned. "Well Miss Kori, it is a pleasure to meet you! The name is Wallace West, but call me Wally!" The boy beamed back at Kori, who looked elated. Wally was wearing a red t-shirt that read "I'm the Fastest Boy Alive" across the top in white letters. He wore tan jeans with red running shoes. The boy had red hair, freckles, and green eyes. The group stood behind Wally as they introduced themselves. "I'm Garfield Logan, but everyone calls me Gar! Nice to meet you, Kori!" The blonde boy said politely. Gar was wearing a green t-shirt that read "Ladies Man" across the center, and black jeans with black and purple tennis shoes. He had short blonde hair with green eyes, and a toothy grin. "Well little lady, names Victor Stone. Call me Vic." The African American boy smiled. Victor was a 6.3, muscular boy, who wore a silver hoodie that had a large, black "T" along the center with black jeans and blue high tops. Victor had blue eyes and was bald. "Karen Beecher. Call me Bee." The tall girl added as she leaned into Victor. Karen was also African American and almost as tall as Victor. She wore gold heels with a yellow long sleeve shirt and white skinny jeans. She had her hair up in two buns, and she had dark brown eyes. "It is glorious to meet you all!" Kori beamed with joy. Everyone smiled as they took their seats, Kori sitting between Rachel and Wally.
"So Kori, you obviously aren't from around here. So tell us your story!" Wally questioned. "Well, I'm from Tamaran, a little island in the Caribbean. I moved here about 6 months ago to live with my sister and guardian." Kori replied. "I think I've heard of this island before. Back in World Geography, we had to learn about the Caribbean islands and small countries. It's probably the only thing I remember from that class…." Gar stated, grinning at the memory. "The reason you don't remember is because you slept through that period, every day!" Victor laughed. "Hey, that's not true! I don't remember because I didn't like that class. It was so boring!" Gar replied. "That's probably why you failed the class, Gar." Rachel chuckled. "Hey, we shouldn't make fun of Gar here. He just needed his beauty sleep!" Wally laughed, and everyone busted into a fit of laughter while Gar sat surprised in his seat. He retorted with a grin. "Hey, I don't need beauty sleep. I get my good looks from my natural complexion." Everyone, including Gar, busted, again, into a long laugh. "Whoa, man. I never knew you could crack a good joke!" Wally grinned, wiping an imaginary tear from his face. "Well, you're worse than me! I bet you can't tell a good joke to save your life!" Gar chuckled with glee.
As the two competed to see who the best comedian was, Karen walked over to Kori. "So Kori, what's your schedule? I'm going to check if we have any classes together." Karen asked. "Here, friend." Kori smiled and handed Karen the paper with her printed schedule. She quickly scanned over it, and passed it around to Victor and Rachel. "Well, we only have Geometry together, as well as lunch. We get Sparky in that class, as well." She smiled. Victor grinned as he passed the paper to Rachel. "Actually, Kori and I have lunch, Geometry and History together. Guess I will have to introduce her to Dick, since he is in that class as well." Kori turned to them with a puzzled look. "Oh please, tell me who this Dick is?" Kori asked. Rachel rolled her eyes and Karen chuckled softly. Victor replied. "Dick Grayson, multi- billionaire's son, and the previous playboy in all of Jump City and Gotham. Every girl drools over him if he passes by. On the surface, he's a very serious guy. However, he has been one of my best friends since middle school, despite his flaws." Victor explained. Kori smiled. "I hope he and I will have a good start for our friendship, like all of you did when we first met!" Kori was curious about Dick Grayson. She had never heard of him, and apparently he was a celebrity.
When Gar and Wally, who had settled on an even draw because neither could tell a good joke, finally joined the conversation with the others, the bell rang for the next class. They all said their goodbyes and made their way to their next period. Victor led Kori to their next class, History. As the two walked through the halls, they passed by Kitten's group of friends, who snickered and laughed as Kori passed by. Victor noticed the attention and looked over to Kori. "Got on the wrong foot with them, huh?" He questioned. "Sadly, yes. The one by the name Kitten was awfully rude this morning. Rachel was the one who stood up for me when they made the fun of me. It is how we became acquainted." Kori sighed. Victor looked at her, and sighed. "Well, sad to say those girls may never truly like you. But, you don't need to worry. They all aren't very good kids to hang out with, backstabbing each other whenever one shows a flaw. Besides, who needs them anyway?" Victor assured warmly. "Thank you for your kindness, Victor. You and the rest of your friends have been so kind to me, and it feels great to know that there is always some nice people in this school!" Kori thanked. Victor grinned. "You're welcome Kori. Now let's get to class." The two hurried through the halls until they arrived in to the doorway of the classroom. Victor grinned slightly and turned to Kori. "Well, we're here. Let's go meet Dick." He said as he led her in.
Kori didn't know what to expect from this Dick Grayson. However, she never would have imagined he would look this fantastic. When Victor and Kori walked into the class, Dick was sitting in the front row, almost as if he expected someone he knew to show up. God, did he look stunning. He was a muscular boy with jet black hair, black sunglasses, and was a little taller than Kori. He wore the same sweatshirt as Vic with dark blue jeans and black boots. Kori was stunned at the man before her, never seeing anyone as handsome as he was. "Hey Dick!" Victor yelled, running up to his best friend. Dick grinned and gave Victor a high- five. "What's up man?" Dick beamed with his perfect smile. "It's great to see you're in this class." Victor grinned. Victor motioned Kori to walk up to them. "I want you to meet someone." Victor added, turning to Kori. Dick put on a questioning look and turned to see the angel that had been hiding behind Victor. She was drop-dead gorgeous. She had flowing red hair that cascaded over her thin shoulders and her eyes were sparkling like green emeralds. She wore blue jeans with a small purple jacket. He nearly fainted when she smiled happily at him. "Dick, this is Kori Anders. Kori, Dick Grayson." Victor stated as he introduced the two. Kori shook away her initial shock and smiled brightly. "It is a pleasure to meet you, Dick". Dick snapped back to reality and tried to focus his mind on audible words. "Hi. Nice to meet you too." He smiled. "Hey, what classes do you have, Dick?" Victor asked breaking the silence. Dick showed him his schedule and Victor scanned over it, handing it back to him. "Well we have Geometry, Lunch and Athletics together." Victor replied. "I heard you state the athletics period. Tell me, what sport do you both play? Victor grinned. "We play for the Jump City Titans, The National Football Champions!" He boomed. Dick smiled. "Victor is the all-star running back, and probably the best in the nation!" Victor slapped his best on the back. "Don't forget who the best quarterback in all of the nation!" Kori smiled delightedly. "It appears you both enjoy the sport and are very good at it!" She turned to the clock and smiled. "Shall we take a seat, before the instructor becomes angry with us?" she questioned. The two guys nodded and took their seats. Dick sat right next to Kori on her left side, while Victor sat behind her. As their teacher, Mr. Mod, rolled on about the expectations in his class, Dick couldn't take his eyes off Kori. "She's different from the other girls. She doesn't seem to be all over me, or trying desperately to get my number. We'll see how this turns out." He thought to himself. As the period bell rang, the three students walked toward lunch where they would meet up with their friends.
As the 3 walked in to the lunch room, Kori was overwhelmed by the number of people that have been stuffed inside the cafeteria. She hesitated, not knowing at first where to sit to eat. When Rachel approached her, Kori silently sighed with relief. "Hey Kori. Overwhelming isn't it?" Rachel said. "There are a lot of students here, friend." Kori stated. "Don't worry. I already promised you that you can sit with us." Rachel said, leading Kori to the table.
At the table sat Victor next to Karen on his right and Dick to his left. Rachel and Gar sat in front of Dick, with Wally and another girl Kori had never seen before. Kori sat next to Rachel, who welcomed her with a friendly smile. Everyone else welcomed Kori, except for a short girl with bubblegum hair. "You seem to be Kori. Name is Jenny Hex. Call me Jen" The girl said to Kori. "Oh, it is a pleasure to meet another friend!" Kori beamed in glee. The girl smiled lightly. Jen was wearing a long sleeve and black jeans with purple tennis shoes. She wore her pink hair up in a bun.
Suddenly, Kori heard a high-pitch squeal from behind her. "DICKIE POO! Your Kitten is here!" Kitten squealed as she ran toward him. Dick cringed and shuddered as he heard that dreaded voice. He turned and she practically leaped into his lap. "How are you doing, Dickie Poo? Did you miss your, Kitten?" She purred into his chest. He leaned back and looked disgustingly at the person in his lap. "You are not my "Kitten". How about you play that card with Xavier or some other guy. Someone who likes your type." He spit at her. Not even noticing what he said, she looked up only to see Kori sitting in the middle of their group. She glared. "So I guess you will be following these losers around? I assumed as much from you, new girl." Kitten grinned. "She has a name." Dick snarled. Kitten rolled her eyes and scowled. "Whatever. I don't need to know all the names of your one-night stands." Kori sank in her seat little, and then Rachel spoke. "You should really consider yourself one of those then." Rachel growled at Kitten. The group snickered and grinned at her remark as Kitten looked shocked. "You freak. I can make your life miserable." Rachel rolled her eyes as Kitten turned back to Dick and smiled seductively. "Dickie-poo, why don't you come sit with your real friends instead of these pretenders?" Kitten purred. "I think he would prefer us over you, Kitten." Karen yelled. "Was I talking to you, Beecher? From what I remember, you were one of us, then you abandoned your friends for him." Kitten pointed to Victor as Karen narrowed her eyes and clenched her fists. "If any of you were my real friends, then you wouldn't care about who I hung out with!" She yelled angrily. Kitten scoffed and turned back to Dick. "Come on, Dickie-poo!" Kitten demanded. "No Bee's right, I'd rather not have back-stabbers as friends." He agreed and stood up to let Kitten drop to the floor. The group chuckled as she fell. She yelped as she hit the concrete, and then bolted up in a fit of rage. "You all will pay for messing with Kitten Moth!" She screamed and stormed away, which only grew the fit of laughter emerging from the group of teens at the table.
Dick, who wasn't laughing during this fit, spoke after the laughter subsided. "God do I hate her." He growled, clearly irritated by Kitten's presence. "Who doesn't hate that bitch?" Karen replied. "If you do not mind, you were once friends with Kitten?" Kori asked Karen. Her face lit up with anger. "I use to hang out with their group. They kicked me out because I had been friends with Vic, which is totally stupid!" Karen responded angrily. "Just because I had become friends with Sparky, they think it's the end of the world! They said if I wanted to stay in their group, I have to totally embarrass him and deny he was ever my friend, which I couldn't do." Karen ranted. "I despise their little "group" now. They're all just a bunch of backstabbing sluts!" She sighed, finally finishing her rant of anger and leaned back into Victor, who whispered soothing words to calm her down. As she cooled down, Wally responded. "I think the lesson we all have learned today is that Kitten and her friends are the biggest and the most total bitches in the whole world. I don't think I have ever met anyone a bigger slut than Kitten." Wally grinned, lightning the mood. "Sadly, I believe that would be true. I have only known her one day and I can see that. I assume I will never be on good terms with their group after today." Kori agreed sadly. Dick turned toward her and evaluated her. He noticed that she looked sad, almost depressed. He was shocked to see someone so sad toward Kitten and her friends. He never knew someone who was so upset about losing a friendship before. He decided to respond. "It's probably for the best, actually. They don't deserve to have any of us as friends anyways, especially you Kori." He grinned making Kori blush slightly. "Amen to that, Dick" Wally stated.
As they group made small talk amongst themselves, the lunch bell rang for the next period. Before Kori headed to her next room, she was stopped by Rachel. "Since we have classes in the same hallway, I can show you the way." She said. "That would be much appreciated, friend!" Kori replied as she followed her down the hallways. "By the way, the whole group usually meets up after school, so we can exchange numbers there. We meet by the chain fence outside the football field. If you need a ride, I can drive you home." Rachel said as the 2 walked down the halls to their classes. "No worries, I already have a ride. I appreciate the offer." Kori smiled. "Well here is your class, I'll see you after school then?" Rachel asked. "Of course, friend! See you there!" Kori beamed as she walked into her class.
Although no one she knew was in here English class, Kori was ecstatic for her Geometry class, where Victor and Karen were in. As well as Dick. She couldn't take her mind off him. He seemed nice enough, but she didn't know if she could trust him. Yet, she felt like he was different from the rest of her new friends. She just couldn't pinpoint what exactly.
She walked in to her class and was welcomed by her friends immediately. "Thank god you guys are in here. I don't think I could bear one day with Kitten in this class without you guys." She smiled, glaring towards Kitten, who was currently whispering with one of her friends, glancing at times toward the 4 teens. "Guess we should take our seat?" Dick said to the others and they walked to find a seat among the others students quickly finding spots to sit. Before they knew it, only a few seats remained. As Vic and Karen to 2 seats next to each other, Dick sat a few seats in the back, with only a seat behind him left open. As Kori approached the desk behind him, she apparently was too late, because Kitten had already made it there first. "Oh, Dickie-poo! You wouldn't mind if I sit here do you?" She said practically kissing him in the process. Dick pulled away quickly and almost busted with rage. "Yeah, I do mind. Why don't you go aggravate someone else?" He spit and growled at her. She stood up, shocked at his reaction. "Well, I didn't know you liked slutty girls drooling over you. Fine, have it your way." She yelled and stormed off, pushing past Kori in the process. Kori approached cautiously. "May I sit behind you, friend?" She asked hesitantly. Dick stared surprised. "Of c-course." He stuttered softly. She smiled appreciably and took a seat behind him, ignoring the glares Kitten gave her.
The class went by quickly, and when the daily lesson was over, the bell rang. Kori hurried to her next class, Physical Education. When she arrived she noticed that Gar had been sitting alone, scouring the room for someone he knew. When he saw Kori approach he grinned and waved. "Hey, guess I'm not alone in this class!" He smiled. Kori replied, "Oh Glorious, such joyous news to be with a friend in this period. Is there anyone else we know?" Suddenly, a voice came running over to them. "I knew Ms. Anders would show up! I just knew I had a class with her!" Wally grinned as he raced up to Gar and Kori, high fiving Garfield in the process. "Jen isn't in this class, but at least I got another lady to hang with until the end of the day! This period is the best!" Wally smiled joyfully. "I hope it will be as joyous as you will say it is, Wally." Kori giggled. "The only reason he likes it is because we get to run on the track. Which will suck…" Gar replied. "Oh come on, Gar! Running is the best sport in the world! It gets me teary eyed just thinking about it…" Wally said pretending to shed tears. "Yeah, but don't you run enough in track?" Gar asked. Wally gasped and clenched his heart. "Never utter that blasphemy to my ears again!" He cried. Gar rolled his eyes and Kori chuckled. Suddenly, the room filled with a loud whistle. "Alright, you lazy teens! Time for stretches!" Mr. Mammoth yelled. Most of the teens groaned, except for Wally, who started cheering loudly.
The final period was an elective period of the student's choice. Kori decided to go with Art. It was not only a requirement, it was also something that seemed very interesting to Kori. As she walked into the big doors of the art room, she was greeted a familiar face. Dick was sitting in the back of the room, texting on his phone. As he looked up, he saw Kori walk in, and waved her over. Before she could make it over to his seat, someone she didn't quite know stopped her first. He was a tall, intimidating, and generally unpleasant individual, who looked over Kori's figure with lustful eyes. He wore a black hoodie that had a red "X" sketched to the back. The boy grinned, revealing his white teeth. "Hello, cutie. Haven't seen you at school before. What's your name?" Kori shivered at the voice, and she hesitantly replied. "K-Kori. Kori Anders. I'm new here." She peeped. The boy smiled at her voice, fueling his fantasies. "Well Kori, how about you sit by me today. We can get to know each other." He said, his lustful voice sending chills up Kori's spine. She didn't want to be anywhere near this guy. He was absolutely creepy. Luckily, Dick was right at her side in a matter of moments. "Leave her alone, Xavier." Dick snarled at the boy. Xavier turned towards Dick, who was shorter than him, and grinned. "What, she one of your one-night stands, Dick? Sorry, but I think I saw her first." He chuckled. Dick, who was mortified at his comment, filled with rage. "Leave her alone. Or else…" Dick growled at Xavier, who didn't even flinch. "What are you going to do, Grayson? Hit me?" Xavier spit at Dick, who now stood inches apart. Dick clenched his fists. "I will if you don't leave her alone…" Xavier grinned, ready to throw the first punch. Before the confrontation became physical, Kori stepped in. "Please do not fight. We shouldn't have conflict over this, "misunderstanding"." She pleaded. Both boys turned toward Kori, and Xavier stepped back. "Fine then, guess I should comply. You can keep your girlfriend for now. See you around, cutie." Xavier winked as he strolled back to his sit. Dick, still fuming with rage, subsided a little. "Are you alright?" Dick stated worryingly. Kori turned back to Dick and smiled. "I am fine. Let us go and sit, shall we?" She gleamed as she skipped to her desk. Dick complied, and sat right next to her, almost taunting Xavier, who was infuriated by his action.
The rest of the class went smoothly, except the constant tension between Xavier and Dick, which could be felt throughout the entire period. After the bell rang, Dick escorted Kori to the meeting spot where the others were awaiting them. As the group welcomed Kori and Dick, they traded numbers with Kori and headed their separate ways. Gar, Wally, and Jen carpooled each other, so they made their way to Jen's car. Rachel went south and drove back to her own home, Victor and Karen drove together and Dick drove alone. Kori was the only one who waited for her uncle, who had the only car in her family. She had denied going with anybody else, not wanting to be burden to the rest of them. Galfore would pick her up since she lived about 20 minutes away from the high school. After about 10 minutes of waiting, Kori started to worry. Her uncle only worked 5 minutes from the high school, and he never was late. She decided to call him after another 10 minutes had gone by.
When he picked up the phone, his voice was shaky and worn out. "Star? I am so sorry, darling. I have to get your sister. She is out in the middle of nowhere without a ride. I almost told her to walk home, then I realized she left without anyone. I will never forgive myself if she was to get hurt because of me." He apologized. Kori sighed, but quickly recovered knowing full well what was going on. Her sister would usually go out and drink. Yet she usually got a ride home. She was probably in a bad part of Jump, so her uncle naturally worried over her. "It's okay. I can manage. I hope she will be okay. I will see you soon." Kori assured sadly as she hung up. She sighed again and started to walk to her house, which would take double the time to get there if she hurried.
About 5 minutes into her walk, she was stopped by a black Ferrari. The driver rolled the window down and revealed himself to be Dick, who was shouting "Kori!" She stopped and the car pulled to a halt. Dick walked out of his car and stood in front of her. "I saw you walking home. You said you were getting a ride from someone?" He asked, clearly worried about Kori. Kori smiled. "I did have one. My guardian got held up at work." She lied. Kori didn't want to explain her sister, knowing full well she might get asked why. She didn't have the confidence to explain to everyone that her sister drinks to cover up their family's death. "I can drive you home if you want?" Dick said. "No, that would be too much to ask of you. You all have been so kind to me today, I don't want to seem like a burden." Dick grinned. "It's no problem at all. I wouldn't mind taking you." Kori bit her lip hesitantly. "You truly wouldn't mind?" Kori sighed sadly. Dick smiled warmly. "It's not a burden to ask for a friends help. It would be my pleasure." He smiled and offered his hand. Kori looked down at it, and hesitantly took it in hers. Dick smiled then led Kori to the car and held the door for her. He then walked to the driver's seat and started to drive down the road. "So, uh….where do you live?" He asked hesitantly. Kori smiled then proceeded to tell Dick the directions to her house.
Dick pulled up to her street and then in front of her Knorfka's house, which was a small, 2-story house with red bricks and a chain fence. You could obviously tell she wasn't rich, but her family got by, with just enough money to pay for Koma's party lifestyle. Kori was a little embarrassed by the quaint living, but Dick didn't seem to mind, since he didn't say a word about it. Now, pulling into the small parking spot, Dick got out of his car, and held open Kori's door for her. "Thank you, friend. For everything." She thanked. Dick smiled. "You're welcome. If you ever need someone to call for a ride, I would be happy to do it." He stated. "I will think about it. You have already done so much for me. How may I repay you?" She asked. Dick grinned. "I don't need payment. A simple thanks is all I need." Dick chuckled. "Well, thank you, Dick. I really appreciate it. Goodbye, friend! " Kori thanked him again and said her goodbyes. "You're welcome. Bye Kori." He said as he got in his car and drove off. Kori walked through the front door. She skipped up the stairs, and fell on her bed, a giant smile overcasting her face. She definitely had the best, first-day ever.
