One shot.
Sasusaku
I thought of this while listening to Maroon 5 - Never Gonna Leave This Bed.
...
The war had ended long ago, and although things were better than ever, they weren't always easy.
Sasuke Uchiha had been awoken by another nightmare.
They came few and far between these days, but the times they did creep back into his nights like inky shadows were enough to jog his sense of security. Inhaling slowly he turned his head to the side catching sight of his constant source of comfort lying with her slender back to him and pink locks slightly mussed by the pillows.
He allowed himself to breathe normally knowing she had always been there and always would be. It was more than he could say for himself and he cringed as he was assaulted with memories of his past wrongs towards her. Before his self pity could latch on to him tight enough however, he realized that she had forgiven him. He found her goodness and love for him staggering. Her resilience was blinding and he barely felt worthy of her sometimes.
He grew suddenly nervous and moved closer to her gentle form. He could hear her soft breath as he hovered next to her. Her face was set in an innocent mask of ignorance as she slept on, free from his haunted darkened thoughts.
'She knows' he thought to himself. Surely she must know that he never wanted to be parted from her again, but just to make sure…
He ghosted his hand up her arm to her shoulder lightly grasping it. "Sakura." His whisper sounded hoarse and she didn't stir.
Shifting her a bit he repeated his attempt "Sakura."
This time was a success as she moaned "hmm?" she groggily turned her head slightly rolling towards him to be caught against his chest. "Are you ok?" her voice was an airy whisper and her eyes closed in half sleep.
He wound his strong arms around her and his voice was quiet "I will never walk away again."
She smiled in her half awake state and reached up a hand to stroke his hair. "I love you too." She breathed before lowering her arm once more to join his. He pressed his face to the crook of her neck and kissed it realizing she'd fallen asleep again. It wasn't long before he too was soundly asleep with no threats of shadowed dreams.
….
Yay! I love SASUSAKU!
