A/N: SPOILERS, okay. At the very beginning- spoilers. So, basically what this fiction is about is what happens after Cole's death. Pretty well what I would imagine if there was a second game. Jack is fired from F&I, and pursues as an investigator- where he hunts down the founders of the Redevelopment Fund, and finds more about Elysian Fields. Now, of course, the whole story isn't going to be about this. There will be other spectators, (and probably, I'm NOT sure yet, OC's. Probably not. Just lots of headcanons.) But, I'll be bringing back old characters. (Like, Cole's partners. Except Roy. Because I have other plans for him.) So, uh, I hope you enjoy, okay? I also appreciate reviews and helpful critique. c: Also, sorry that this prologue is so short. I hate doing things like this, but I like to do a recap if I need to.
Prologue
"He was never your friend, Jack."
"I was never his enemy."
"I think he knew that, Jack..."
That's all I can think about now. The night Cole died, he died because he saved Elsa and I. And I can't get it out of my head. He shouldn't of died... Even when I think back to how much of a bitch he was when we were in the war... I guess it caught up to him in the end. He died, and we didn't finish the case. He was too caught up in saving Elsa- however we did find out who was burning all the houses. An old war colleague. Suffering mentally... I put him out of his misery. Ira was too oblivious when he was helping Fontaine. Fontaine was "healing" Ira, while he burned all the houses for him. Cole told me that Fontaine was dead...Along with Sheldon.
We didn't finish the case. We have to find and eliminate the rest of the group that runs the Redevelopment Fund. They won't stop until they get what they want... And that's money. I'm going to need help... I need to find someone who's capable. I just don't know who. I can't trust anyone after all of this... All of the cops they own- Christ, who knows who else they own.
I can no longer trust my boss, Curtis, for he's in on the development plan, too. Of course he runs Fire & Life so he's definitely going to be in on it. Hershel told me that the chief of police is with them, too. Hah, no surprise... That explains all of the cops on my tail that night.
However, I'm beginning to be thankful for that man that offered me that invesigator job...
But, now, I am going to find Monroe and the others and put a stop to this- along with their little spies they pay for. We will finish this once and for all.
