Second poem that I wrote for the rhyming battle going on between role players on Facebook! :)
So I just completed V15C2: The Harrowing Truth, and I'm overwhelmed by grief over Reed's dark past. Somehow I have the same feeling of everything once familiar to me being snatched poorly away, and with one of my childhood friend's death anniversary coming up, the feeling can't be suppressed for long. That's why I ended up writing this poem, not only to console Reed (this sounds so wrong since I role play him), but to pacify my thoughts that are going haywire. Hope you enjoy this!
Disclaimer: I do not own Cause of Death
Harrowed
Despair ripped his heart out,
Still, aft' so many times out.
Deep down in him, nevertheless,
He understood what t'was about.
His birth wasn't at all bless'd,
But it was despised and cursed.
He was cursed to lose everything,
And this couldn't be reversed.
Years passed and he learnt a thing:
Never let anyone close, nothing -
Nothing did he have to lose
To the world that took ev'rything.
On the fields he was the boss.
But once he did almost lose
To the infamous Il Primo -
Stealthy, cunning as a fox
He didn't anticipate the blow,
Nor the slashes that followed.
He yearned nothing more than death
When his identity was thrown -
Thrown was his identity, his mirth.
He knew he should make life worth.
He joined the Task Force, and again,
He craved for not undergoing birth.
Everything was crashing. Pain
Coursing through his body, disdain
Crawling in his veins, hatred
Boiling, yet merrily in vain.
The deaths made him disgusted,
When they could've been avoided.
His foe was coming after him,
So why they died and he lived?
His soul was harrowed to the rim,
His eyes filled up to the brim.
He wanted to collapse, to break;
But first he had to redeem -
Redeem himself from the wreck
He collapsed into, and wake
Up from the torturous nightmare;
And summon himself to their wake.
This time, he will make all be aware.
There won't be more loss, he swear.
They'll beware of scenes out there,
And there won't be guilt to bear.
