Ha, what a joke.
Here we are, trapped like dogs, in a part of a city that would kill a normal human with prolonged exposure. The media was quick to trumpet the fact that this radioactive wasteland was still a part of Seattle, and this is their "neighbourhood". If there were any "neighbours" around, they'd be dead by now, it wouldn't be our fault though.
It's true that we're not quite human. We are, quite simply, the next step in evolution, abeit an artificial step in evolution. But to not even give us the rights that are awarded to animals? Are they saying that we should be killed, cut up and marinated as well?
There were no charges made, there were no violations of the law, only an apparent violation of humanity. To them, our very existence is a violation of their tradition, of children being the products of relationships between two people, be it a relationship based on love or lust. But to us, the clear violation of humanity is the mob's blatant and instant rejection of anything different, the fear which leads to anger and hatred. No compassion, no empathy, only hate and fear.
Maybe one day, in the future, humans and transgenics will be able to live together in peace and harmony. As I look towards the outside world, framed by the bars of fences designed both to keep those from the outside out, and us securely inside, that day seems very far away.
