Love for Mother

Hey Mom,

I know that things have been rough the past few months and I'm sorry I haven't written in a while. I just want to let you know that things are going okay. Me and Sage are doing okay. We just finished the garden in the back. She planted your favorite which she sends with this letter.

I love you Mom. You were there for all of us even when you were busy. Cisco taught me how to be a man but you taught me how to be a person. Because of that, I am who I am today and I thank you for that.

I know that you are disappointed that we aren't able to make it to Texas for Mom's day but there are reasons for that, which you know. So we decided to send you something that should make things bright for your special day. I know you'll love it.

Happy Mother's Day Love,

Nick

P.S. Happy Mother's Day Jill, Love Sage

Jill smiled as she read the letter from her youngest son and his wife and doubly at the carefully dried flower that had been her favorite since the day Nick's father gave one to her when they met. On the table was a box that she had yet to delve into that was opened but the contents had been carefully wrapped indicating that they were valuable.

The package had arrived yesterday afternoon with the mail; just in time for today. Jill couldn't wait to open it since the past few years had been interesting and she suspected that Sage had been the inspiration behind them. She loved the girl that had a way with people even though things were awkward in the beginning. She knew though her son loved her to pieces and the feeling was mutual.

Taking out the first package, Jill noted the handwritten note that was like copperplate writing taped to it. She smiled as she read it out loud, "Hi Jill, I know Nicky's gift will be kept in that special album of yours so I thought you'd like something for the house. We have a new kid in addition to the two we already have. Nicky said it reminded him of the ranch. Hope you like it and we miss you. Love Sage."

Jill understood what she meant when she opened the package. In addition to the dried flower, it was a framed picture of Sage and Nick with now three dogs, all German Shepards. Nick was holding Sage and they were smiling at the camera and the two adults were posed sitting and lying down and the puppy was in Sage's lap. She could see why Nick would say that it reminded him of home. The boy had grown up around dogs and no doubt all three were babied and loved like children.

The next one was Nick's gift. Jill knew that Sage had been right when she said that it would be kept in the special album. She gave a slight gasp at the image. There was also a note from Nick in his handwriting, "Hey Mom, this is the most recent one. It's still a surprise though."

Jill lifted out the copy and couldn't help but smile with tears in her eyes. She could make out the tiny limbs that were arms and legs. There was the head; the whole thing looked perfect. Almost twenty weeks and everything looked healthy; another grandchild on the way.

The phone rang and Jill picked it up, "Hello."

Hey Mom. I'm guessing you got it.

Jill smiled trying to stifle the tears of joy. "Yes I did. I love them both. Thank you Nicky."

Happy Mother's Day Mom.

Jill smiled hearing both voices speaking. Even though they couldn't make it, they were there. She smiled as they talked on the phone, thankful that she had such wonderful children.

A/N: Okay I know this is late but a little Mother's Day fluff with Sage and Nick. Enjoy.
