Her eyes shot open, her hand going to her chest then to her throat. Her heart was beating fast and she was covered in sweat. "It was a dream." Katniss said to herself. "It was just a dream." She sat up and closed her eyes, swinging her legs off the side of the bed. The cool floor beneath her feet was comforting. She walked into Haymitch's room. She didn't bother turning on the light, he was used to this by now.

"You too Katniss?" he asked.

"Mhm." She crawled into the bed beside him.

"What was yours about?" Peeta asked. Peeta?

"You're here too?"

"I always come to Haymitch when I have a bad dream."

"So do I."

"I'm surprised this hasn't happened yet. You two have more nightmares than I ever did." Haymitch said wrapping his arms around the two kids, pulling them to rest their heads on his chest. "You're strong kids,"

"You're strong too Haymitch." Peeta said.

"Not as strong as you lot."

"Just as strong." Katniss said.

Haymitch chuckled. "Go sleep

A sweet aroma filled her nose and the cold empty bed made her shiver. Katniss padded to the kitchen to be greeted by Peeta baking and Haymitch drinking what she assumed was coffee and reading a letter.

"Effie sends her regards."

"She should visit sometime." Peeta said. "Oh, good morning Katniss."

"Morning."

"Sleep well?" Haymitch asked.

"Better than usual."

"That's good." He returned to reading the letter. "By the way, if you kids want, you can stay in my room every night."

"Thanks but no-" Katniss started.

"I would love to." Peeta interrupted her.

She scowled. "Then I guess I will too."

"You guys are too competitive." Haymitch said.

"I suppose." Peeta placed a plate of pancakes in front of them. "The muffins are almost done."

"Where id you get all the supplies for muffins and-" Katniss began.

"Effie has been sending me baking stuff, flour and the like."

"I wish Effie sent me food. She sends me makeup and guides on how to use it."

"Well why don't you use it?" Haymitch asked through a mouthful of food.

"There's no point, I don't have to impress anyone anymore."

"Try impressing yourself for a change." Haymitch said.

"Or you could do his makeup." Peeta laughed.

"I could." She smiled.

She finally has a life worth living.
