Disclaimer:...It ain't mine....Harry Potter that is.
The sky was a slate grey. The clouds obscured the moon and the stars. As the lightning flashed, the grey walls of the dormitory were highlighted.
Ron let out a gasp when he felt the cold touch on his feet. Looking around quickly he realized it was Hermione who had positioned herself under his blankets. Though he was thoroughly confused, he had enough sense to keep his voice at a low.
"Hermione!" He hissed softly, "why on earth are you in my bed!"
Shivering, Hermione admitted, "I'm scared Ron, of the thunder, it's so loud and it echoes..."
Absolutely flabbergasted, Ron exclaimed, in a whisper of course, "and what the bloody hell am I supposed to do about that!" Hermione resisted the urge to tap her best friend, well one of them at any rate, into oblivion.
"I'm scared, and I feel safe with you, so... move over." Ron, still rather shocked, obeyed without hesitation and Hermione settled nicely into his arms.
An hour passed and as the duo became more relaxed, they drifted into the sandman's kingdom.
Fear...
Tiring...
Escape...
He could do naught but run as the demon drew closer.
Crash...
Falling...
Caught...
Red eyes glowing maliciously.
Wand...
Green...
Scream...
The Boy Who Lived sat up abruptly. His blanket tucked securely around him he made his way to the bed opposite his. He opened the curtains carefully, tiptoed over to the bed and quietly laid himself across the foot of the bed. Pulling his covers even closer he joined his friends in sleep.
Ron noticed him first. He, deep in sleep, had stretched out only to discover an obstacle. It was remarkable, to say the least, that he did not scream out. His movements, however, woke his second guest.
"You afraid of the thunder too?"
"Dreams" Harry whispered. And that one word explained it all. Then, smiling slightly, he continued "you make them go away, so...move over Ron." And Ron did.
They slept that night knowing, each of the fears appeased. Hermione, the thunder. Harry, his dreams. And Ron, knowing that he was needed.
