From the moment he entered the bizarre place, he knew he was in for a hell of a punishment. Though he had tried to recall how he had gotten there, on his own free will, he couldn't get past the last thing he remembered. True, there was a car ride involved, but looking out the window was not as great as looking at Kurama's smile. There was something rather hypnotizing about it. His smile was something that he just couldn't look away from or refuse, no matter how much he tried.

That or it could have been due to the fact that he was in love with him. Whether it was the subtle sex appeal or his love for him, one thing was sure. He had no idea how he had agreed to go to the circus with Kurama. Getting into the car had been a blur, a wonderful blur. Getting out of it was involved having a fit, people gawking at him, a bird landing on his head, more shouting, the bird leaving him a nasty gift, and some bribing. Overall, it hadn't been too bad. At least he had gotten the snacks he had wanted.

However, now he had to hold up his end of the deal. To say it was a complete waste of his time was an understatement. The humans with make up on looked ridiculous and seemed to frighten several children rather than making them laugh. All of the animals smelled, or it could have been that many people didn't throw away their trash into the containers they were supposed to. To top it off, there were a lot of people and kids screaming and making other noises. It did appear that most of them were having fun, but they didn't have to make so much noise in his opinion.

"Why am I here… With you? Not that I mind… Or Care!" he managed to blurt out through the noise level that felt like it was increasing with each passing second.

Kurama smiled at him. "When I was younger, I came to one, but I never enjoyed it." Hiei was about interrupt him, but Kurama shook his head. "I'm not trying to torture you, Hiei. You see, I figured something out. Sometimes we all need to behave or feel like children, for our own sakes. It's a method that allows us to be more at peace with ourselves and that lets us relive something we might not have gotten the chance to feel, or did feel but took it for granted. So, this is a second chance."

After giving him some more of the soft, sweet pink food, he settled down. Although he wasn't about to admit to Kurama that he did feel like not killing anyone, or injuring the young child that kept making faces at him, he did understand what he meant. When he had been younger, there were almost no moments in his life where he felt like he could be carefree. Even when he had met Kurama and the rest, part of himself kept telling him that he could never be at ease. Not by himself or with anyone.

Now Kurama gave him a chance to experience several things at once. The tantrum he threw in the parking lot, the sweet food, and the petty arguments that he had won without any effort had all been some of the few things he never had gotten to do… much. Perhaps going to the strange place had been useful and fun, but he'd keep the last part to himself. Let Kurama have some credit, but not all.

At least he had been planning on doing that until the elephants escaped and everyone in the audience ran. Needless to say, he and Kurama got the situation under control. The carefree feeling he had gotten had shattered, but something told him Kurama had other plans up his sleeve, along with a couple of useful toys that would provide them with countless hours of fun.

End.
