Motaki gave me the idea for this. I was watching TBBT and mentioned how the Doctor just has this random little moment where he says 'Romans'. I tell this to Motaki, and she says 'I can just imagine him saying Romans, and trying to pronounce it all these different ways.' And that's sort of how this came about. Enjoy! Amelia Pond and her newly wed husband climbed down the stairs that led to the console room, looking for their friend the Doctor.
" Hey Doctor!" Amy greeted. With impeccable timing, just as the pair reached the bottom of the stair case, the Doctor appeared from the other side of the console.
" Amelia! Rory!" He greeted enthusiastically. Despite himself, Rory smiled at the cheerful nature of the Doctor.
" What are you up to, Doctor?" He asked, genuinely curious as to what the Time Lord was doing. The Doctor shrugged.
" Oh you know. This and that. Fixing the TARDIS up some, and installing a few things that may very possibly save our lives someday." He replied easily, walking over to meet his traveling companions, leaning against the guard rail with them.
"...So what you're always doing then." Said Rory after a quick second. The Doctor clasped a firm hand on the nurse's shoulder.
" Exactly, my Roman friend." He responded.
" So Doc-" Amy started, but was cut off by the Doctor.
" Are you aware," He began loudly, turning to his controls and fiddling with them a bit. " Of how many ways one could pronounce the word 'Roman'? I mean, there's the normal way, Romans. But then there are so many variations as well!" He turned to face Amy and Rory again. " Romains, Roe-mans, Romahns, Ramans, like the noodles, Bromans, Rory, you are now my Broman-" The Doctor caught the look on Amelias face. Her eyebrows were raised in such a way that quite clearly said 'really?'. The Time Lord got the message and turned back to his ships console, entering commands, saying nothing, but feeling entirely amused by the situation.
"...Romans..."
