A/N: I revised everything in this chapter. 11/23/2014
Bella's POV
I was thinking about well, you know, everything. I was leaving the Cullen's house and was pulling on to the highway when I heard a creaking noise. Thump, thump, thump. grooooan. The truck rolled to a stop with a jolt.
Great, now I have to walk.
I slammed the car door closedand pulled my hood over my head to block the chill from the rain. I shuffled to the side walk, making sure my clumsiness didn't show itself now.. As I was walking toward the house, my eyes trained on the ground, I heard car tires screeching. I turned around just in time to see two cars racing, one was facing the wrong way in the lane, while a car, going at the proper speed and right lane, was driving towards them.
I saw it all in detail, perfect detail. It was as if my body knew what was going to be the effect of this accident. The racing car swerved towards me, and I heard the cracking of bone, even though I never felt it.. I slammed back in to the speed limit pole. I hit my the back of my head. I struggled to breathe for a few minutes before I was sucked into the black void.
I'm sorry, Edward. I love you.
Edwards POV
I was at home. Bella had left and I was starring off into the distance, my mind thinking in four different directions. A tortured scream sounded through the house. I saw the vision play through my mind. It hurt to watch, but it kept replaying over and over in my mind. Bella was being slammed into a pole by a speeding car.
I gasped for air as I felt the pain rise throughout my body.
"We can save her," I breathed.
Alice shook her head slowly and apologized in her thoughts.
Bella was already at the hospital.
Bella's POV
I woke up from a black fog of nothingness. My body was sore and stiff and I heard beeping from somewhere in the room. Struggling I opened my heavy eyelids... to see nothing. I snapped my eyes shut and tried again. With the same results.
The beeping in the room accelerated.
I was blind.
I heard the door open and footsteps walk in.
"Bella? How are you feeling?" Carlisle's voice asked.
My response was a scream.
"Calm down, shhh, shhh, you're okay," I felt cold hands touch my arm.
"I can't see!" I screamed, panic taking control of my body.
Carlisle POV
I walked out in to the waiting room where it seemed all of Forks was. I looked at Edward and saw that he was staring at me with a peculiar expression.
He was trying to read my thoughts, I was blocking him.
"Good news: Bella woke up," I had a hard time forcing out the bad news. "Bad news: The blow to her head damaged her brain, and her sight has been affected. She will be blind for the rest of her life."
The gasps from the room were overwhelming, some sobs were heard, others were frozen.
Edward was the most difficult to look at. His breathing came in puffs his mind was processing. A small strangled breath came though his lips.
"Let me see her, please," he looked at me, knowing I could hear him.
I gave him a small solemn nod.
Edward's POV
Blind, it was hard to process. Bella, blind. My love, blind. My heart, blind.
I approached the white door leading to Bella's room, steeling myself for what was going to happen next.
I raised my fist slowly and knocked on the door to her room before opening it.
"Bella, it's me Edward."
She looked to where my voice was coming from, "Edward!"
I walked over to her bed and gently took her cold hand. I saw her eyes, they were puffy and wide. As if she was thinking if she opens them wide enough she'll see.
I hugged her and she gasped for a second then hugged me back as tightly as she could.
"Edward, I'm so scared," she sobbed in to my shoulder. I wished there was a way I could comfort her.
"Bella, shhh. Bella, shhh. It's all right," I cooed. She looked up at me, well should I say looked? Maybe, I should say, tried to look. I hugged her tight. I can't believe this happened to my angel.
I rubbed her hair gently, trying to comfort her in the best way I could.
