Naruto Uzumaki sighed for the tenth time in the past hour as he lounged on his bed, staring at the ceiling. Tired of lying around, he got up and walked over to the window and looked out at the street below. A couple of people were wandering the streets, singing carols or making their way home to celebrate the holiday together. Everybody seemed to have someone to be with.
"Everyone but me," murmured Naruto.
He flopped back down on his bed, feeling the tears welling up in his eyes. I wish… just once… that I could have someone to spend the holidays with, he thought, rolling onto his side.
There came a sudden knock on his door. Naruto sat up, wiping the tears from his eyes. "Who could that be?" He strode across his apartment and opened the door.
"About time," his visitor grumbled, pushing his way in.
"S-Sasuke-kun?" Naruto stuttered, stepping back and closing the door. "What are you doing here?"
"What do you think, idiot?"
"Um… I don't know. That's why I asked you."
The young Uchiha paused, his usual attitude disappearing. He put his hands in his pockets, his eyes glued to the ground. "Well, uh… it's just that… you know, neither of us has anyone to spend Christmas with and…"
Narutos' eyes widened. That's right! He doesn't have a family either… Naruto suddenly felt very guilty for thinking he was the only one alone during the holidays when Sasuke had been suffering through them too.
Sasuke continued stammering. "And, well… It's just that… I've been keeping this secret for forever, too so it is sorta hard for me to say, but I-"
"Spit it out already, would you Sasuke-kun?!" Naruto exclaimed.
"I love you, you idiot!" Sasuke blushed, looking away after he said it.
Naruto froze, staring at his friend. "W-what…? You…?"
Sasuke looked like he was regretting admitting his love and turned towards the door as he muttered a small apology, but Naruto stopped him before he could leave. "Wait, Sasuke-kun! I…"
Sasuke looked up, his obsidian eyes hopeful.
"I love you too," Naruto returned.
"Really?"
Naruto nodded. "Please… Just, stay, okay? We can celebrate together."
Sasuke nodded, letting Naruto guide him to the couch where they sat down together. For a while, they were silent until Naruto broke it. "Hey Sasuke?"
"Yes, Naruto?" replied Sasuke, who had been content just being with Naruto and hadn't felt a need to speak until then.
"You know that one time in class when we accidentally kissed?"
Sasuke raised an eyebrow, wondering the direction that the conversation was headed. "… What about it?"
Naruto grinned. "That wasn't an accident. The guy behind me barely tapped me. I just used it to my advantage."
Sasuke laughed lightly. "Seriously? What an idiot." He pushed Naruto affectionately.
Naruto tilted to the left, then fell to the right, landing on top of Sasuke. "Oops," he said with a foxlike smile.
Sasuke returned the smile. "Let me guess, another 'accident'?"
"Yup." Naruto leaned forward, pressing his lips against Sasuke's cheek.
"Idiot. You missed." Sasuke pushed Naruto back, reversing their positions. He moved closer, kissing Naruto on the mouth.
A moment later, they pushed apart, catching their breath.
"I think I like accidents," whispered Naruto.
"Me too."
Sasuke got up, letting Naruto sit.
Sasuke frowned. "Damn."
Naruto noticed his look and inquired, "What's wrong?"
"I forgot to get you a gift. I was going to get you some ramen, but Ichiraku's is closed for this week."
Naruto shrugged, leaning against Sasuke's shoulder. "That doesn't matter. I have the best gift ever right here."
Sasuke kissed Naruto's forehead. "Merry Christmas Eve, Loser."
Merry Christmas Eve and Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone out there XD
