We didn't start the fire,
It' was always burnin',
Since the world's been turnin',
We didn't start the fire
No we didn't light it,
But we tried to fight it.
Billy Joel - We Didn't Start The Fire
Just a little bit of Spitfire fluff that was just set rolling by the lyrics above, though I may end up doing one later that is longer and more related to the song, though not a chapter fic. For now just enjoy and try to tell me that those lyrics don't just perfectly fit this couple!
Wally had been sitting in the kitchen, his legs swinging in a blur as he watched M'Gann cook. He'd always liked watching people cook, he learned how to do it for himself that way, and he didn't find it in any different with M'Gann. But apparently his girlfriend did. The green clad archer had dragged the speedster from his spot in the kitchen by his ear, practically ripping off the small fleshy appendage.
Now the two stood in a hallway somewhere in the bowels of the Cave. Artemis was lecturing Wally on his blatant lack of respect for their relationship and calling him all sorts of names at the top of her lungs. Arty's got one heck of a voice. Wally thought as he blocked out the shouting and just watched the blonde pace in tight circles.
The archer pulled to a sudden stop, turning her burning brown eyes on the speedster. Her hands rested on her hips as she glared questioningly at Wally. Her mouth formed a question, to which she got no response. In a movement faster than Wally had anticipated she swung a hand at his head, clipping the side of it lightly to draw Wally out of his seeming reverie.
"Ouch! What?" Wally asked as he rubbed the side of his head.
"Were you listening to a word I just said?"
"Was I supposed to?"
"Yes!"
"Sorry, babe. Will you repeat what you were saying then?" A typical flirtatious smile flashing across his face.
"I was saying that we can't do this if you keep oogling over M'Gann. Either you're with me or you're not."
"Whoa, Arty. Take the drama down a notch. I wasn't watching M'Gann for that reason. I was just watching her cook. I'm a speedster, I revolve around food. I eat it, I make it, I watch people make it. It's part of the gig, at least for me," Wally chuckled as he stepped towards Artemis, wrapping an arm around her.
"Well, can you at least not oogle over M'Gann while she cooks? You can oogle over anyone else, but-"
"Is little Arty jealous?" Wally joked.
"No, I'm not. And don't call me that." Artemis glared at him, her brown eyes narrowed.
"What? Arty? But it's so much fun to-" Wally started, though ending his sentence when he saw the danger glinting in his girlfriend's eyes. "Shutting up now"
"Good, now can you just listen to me when I say that you are an annoying, flirtatious idiot, but you are my annoying, flirtatious idiot. And I'm very protective of my things."
"That's good to know. Guess I won't be trying to steal your bow and quiver to go practice my aim." Wally chuckled, his arm around Artemis tightening slightly.
"Don't you dare Baywatch." Artemis warned, her tough voice cracking with laughter.
The archer looked up at Wally, a smile beginning to form on her face when she saw the huge grin plastered on his. She laughed a little, making him laugh along with her. They started walking down the hall, hands interwoven and laughs still echoing from them.
Robin sat in the Cave's control room, feet up on the keyboard and sipping a soda as he watched KF and Artemis fight before reconciling. The younger teen was laughing the entire time, watching his best friend's face morph in a series of different emotions. When the two began walking off screen Robin sat up right in his seat, smiling to himself when Wally turned to look back at the camera and giving the younger caped crusader a thumbs up behind his back.
"Go KF!"
