A/N: Ok! Thanks to BluestBlood for the idea! This is sort of a companion to one of my more recent fics "The Heart of a Child" You don't have to read the other one first…I actually recommend reading THIS one first…
So it's Natalie's POV and her thoughts about her newborn child.
Ok! Enjoy!
REVIEW PLEASE!
Disclaimer: Don't own it…ugh…Wow, I need a witty disclaimer…
"It's a girl." you hear the doctor say, taking your baby and handing her to the nurse to get cleaned up. You are eager to see her, after months of waiting and hours of labor. You just wish you could yell at the nurses to speed things up.
You're still hurting from having to push the baby out. You don't really want to move unless you have to. But as soon as you see the nurse bringing the crying baby over to you, your pain just goes away. Everything you experienced in the past few hours in nothing compared to this.
She hands you the baby and you graciously take it in your own arms. You look at how little she is. How precious…she seems to stop crying once she sees that you're holding her. She stares up at you with her big blue eyes, which are rather odd. You don't have blue eyes and neither does Henry. She has a small tuft of brown hair, where you can already see tiny curls emerging.
She's beautiful and she's perfect. And she's yours. Yours and Henry's. You hold her closer to yourself, not wanting to ever let her go. You smile as you hear her cooing happily. You never want this moment to end.
But it does. She quickly starts to cry again. You don't know what she's crying about. You hold her away from you now, back in your arms. You try to rock her and soothe her, but nothing works. You start to panic, the baby still in your arms. You seem to forget that she's even there.
You quickly hand the baby over to Henry before you cover your face with your hands, hiding your newly sprung tears. You're horrible, you think to yourself. How could you do that? You're just like her…There's no escaping it…You'll always be like her…
"You ok, Nat?" Henry asks you, placing one hand on your shoulder, holding the baby with the other.
"I…I…couldn't hold her…" you cry, hoping he'd understand.
"That's ok…You got scared…it's ok to be scared. We're new to this."
"I know, but…but-"
"Shhh…" he kisses you softly, gently laying the baby in your arms. You hold onto her as tight as you can. She stopped crying now.
You bring her close to you and whisper, "I will never do that again…I promise I'll love you, you'll never be invisible."
You hear her coo yet again. And you can't help but to think that's her way of agreeing.
A/N: Awwww! Poor Nat…
