I walked through the sterile white hospitals walls that lined the setting of a majority of my childhood. People stared with pity as I passed them pulling my oxygen tank behind me.
My eyes found a young child at the end of the hallway, she was wearing a miniature hospital gown. I recognized the teddy bears holding balloons on the front of the gown, this girl was a cancer patient, it was the same design gown they give all children who have "the big C." I automatically felt sympathy for the child when I saw the bandages poking out from the collar of her gown. She had heart surgery, I instantly felt the urge to give the toddler a hug, she's so strong and I could tell she was wise beyond her years.
