A/N: I'm not quitting "Tears" this is just a small thing I decided to do, the final[?] chapter of Tears will be up soon I hope.
NM: How it SHOULD have ended
"We made it, I-I can't believe we made it!" Said a tired but still energetic Louis.
"Son we just crossed the street." Bill interrupted him and lit a new cigarette before finishing, "Lets not throw a party till we're out of the city."
The survivors approached a table that had some weapons and ammo a few poor souls had left over from their final standing point. Suddenly, the helicopter Louis had spotted a few moments earlier was returning.
"To anyone who can hear this, proceed to Mercy Hospital for evacuation! Repeat, proceed to Mercy Hospital!" The pilot called out.
Frances perked up at those words, "Screw that!" he yelled jogging over to the other end of the roof determined not to have to wade through hundreds of goddamn vampires just to be saved. He fired a few rounds from his pistol at the helicopter, causing the pilot to turn his attention to the nearby roof.
The pilot was taken aback as he spotted four clearly uninfected civilians flailing their arms, one of them firing into the air hoping the muzzle flare would get his attention.
"Whoa man, survivors HERE?!?" Figuring the trip to Mercy Hospital was clearly dangerous, and considering they were standing RIGHT there near him, he proceeded to land and rescue the survivors.
"Hot damn it worked!" Francis cried. Bill just shook his head and sighed.
Louis jumped for joy, "Haha I was right, we DID make it! You'll take us out of the city right?" He asked making sure his joyous jumping would not have been in vain"
"Well, just don't shoot at me anymore and I'll help you out."
"I heard there was a military save zone up north, we can go there." Zoey piped up.
The pilot smiled, "Sounds good, but, the hospital…I've been telling everyone to go there for evac for hours, I can't just abandon them."
Bill shook his head, "I'm sure there is a radio you can contact the roof with, if anyone makes it, you just go back for them. Though I wouldn't count on it, its been two weeks since this infection started and they are already getting stronger. We may be the last survivors out of this city."
"You're probably right but I'll keep my radio on just incase."
With that, the four survivors took their seats, closed the doors, and they all took off north in search of the military safe zone. As fate would have it, Zoey, Bill, Louis, and Francis would be the last people news chopper five would be carrying to safety. Though there were other survivors that made it to the save zone, they had found other means of travel. One group had taken a C-130 plane from the airport, another came by sea on a fishing boat, finally an army APC itself would carry a group of survivors from a nearby farm house. All in all with what was going on in the world, a lot of people were lucky to be alive and uninfected.
A/N: I mean, during the opening of NM the chopper passes the survivors, why not just skip the BS and get rescued right now. Incidentally, because of this alternate telling of the No Mercy campaign, the unknown pilot will never experience that "incident" in which he becomes infected.
