Love and War

The god of war is what I am,

But I can't conquer my heart.

I stand proud on the battlefield,

But without you my life is dark.

From the long curls of your golden hair,

To your magic, shining eyes.

The only goddess who could love me,

The one who other gods despise.

I draw blood upon the battlefield,

Yet I long for solitude.

Just you and me within each other,

To me war's becoming crude.

I'd like to leave, enough of smiting,

Let our love conquer war.

You and I, two Greek gods,

For now and forevermore.

But the world is harsh, and war still calls,

And by that call I must abide.

But if we meet upon the field,

I will stand by your side.
