Author's Note:
I got bored waiting for the September challenge, so I decided to write another story for this month's challenge.
Before he met her, he didn't think he'd ever be able to love again. He didn't want to love again, he had built up a steel wall around his heart (steel so it wouldn't break) to keep from feeling too deeply. And then, he signed up to work for the CBI. And she signed up to work with him. When they met at Starbucks, he didn't think his life would change that much. She was just another woman in his life. A person he was going to work with to put the bad guys behind bars, and maybe get some closure in the process.
But that was all in the past. He loved her. . . and the steel wall he had built had rusted over in such a way, she had been able to knock it down easily. He had finally found the one that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with.
Before she met him, she didn't think she'd ever fall in love. Sure, she had some relationships. But that was all here and there. She had built walls around her to keep her safe, and she was happy that way. And then, he signed up to work with the CBI. And she signed up to work with him. She didn't think much of it. . . he was just another man. And she worked with lots of men. But then, they met for the first times. . . and his eyes met her's. And she was struck by his quiet intensity, his horrific experiences. . . his damaged soul. It was then, her walls began to crumble.
Now, she loved him. . . and all of her walls had completely disappeared. She had finally found the one to spend the rest of her life with.
