Prologue

I watched as a perfect drop of condensation rolled down my water bottle, hitting the coaster and adding to the ring of water outlining the bottom of the bottle.

"Hi," says the awkward blonde woman in the corner of the room. One of her legs resting on the swivel chair before her in a lazy Captain Morgan-esque pose. " I'm Dr. Carol's replacement, Dr. Earl, but you can call me Maleigha." She finally looks up at me for the first time since I sat in her office, ten minutes ago.

I say nothing.

"Is it Isabella?"

"Bella."

She purses her lips and stares at me for just long enough to make me feel awkward. "Alright Bella, I told Dr. Carol to ask you to start filling out cognitive thinking triangle worksheets. Have you done any?"

I nod slowly then I go off. "But you can't read them! Dr. Carol said-"

"I don't want to read them. It's private. For you…. Are you always this quiet? You know, there's a theory that you can discern the majority of a person's characteristics in the first five seconds of meeting do your instincts say about me?"

"Umm… You seem nice… It seems like you're a good thera-"

"That's all bullshit and you know it… Well if you're not going to give me anything we might as well start with the boring stuff…. So what have you been up to this week?"

"Not much." Shrug.

BIG FUCKING LIE.

This week has, in fact, been pretty momentous.
