Like Normal People
"You're losing your touch. That last hit felt as if you were throwing marshmallows at me." Daniel taunted, dancing around the boxing ring while teasing his smaller opponent. Vala lunged at him, he barely dodged her fist.
"And she is foiled once again." He chuckled, bobbing away from her. With a flurry of movement, Vala tackled him, Daniel dropped to the mat easily out of sheer surprise. Undaunted by the frenzied pounding he was taking, Daniel caught Vala around the waist and twisted, throwing her off him and to the side. Rolling twice, he planted himself firmly on her stomach, pinning her down while catching his breath. Vala kept hammering him with repeated blows, he pulled off his own gloves and caught her wrists before pinning them to the mat. Scooting up her slightly, he then trapped her gloved hands under his knees and heaved a sigh of relief. "Remember that time when we first met, back on the Prometheus? I thought you were making a move on me as a Super Soldier." He panted out, savoring his victory with a gloating grin that only Daniel Jackson could give.
"Darling, you're scaring the children." Vala brought her knees up sharply, one catching him in the family jewels. Rolling away, Daniel crawled to the ropes to smile down at his daughter and her best friend, Carter Jacob O'Neill, with two L's.
"Hey, Peanut. Don't be scared, Mommy and Daddy aren't really trying to hurt each other, we're just-" Vala tackled him, and the fight continued. The six year old raised an eyebrow, then heaved a longsuffering sigh before turning to CJ. "Your mom and dad should never have changed the frater'zation rules." she told him solemnly. CJ nodded.
"You should see what I caught Mommy and Daddy doing last night. Daddy dragged Mommy out of the lab, by throwing her over his shoulder. He kept telling her it was for her own good, that her eyes were going to rot out of her skull because she was looking at the same damn part for the last four hours, trying to figure it out." He replied. Peanut rolled her eyes, looking more like her father than her mother, whom she favored in looks and ways.
"Sometimes, I don't know who's the kid in this relationship, me, or them!" She exclaimed.
The two jumped at the sound of Daniel's sudden bellowed "You're a fruitcake!" and shot one another worried looks.
"I hear the kitchen staff has juice boxes." CJ offered.
"Right behind you." Peanut agreed quickly. Sliding off their ringside seats, the duo headed for the door.
Daniel held Vala off just long enough to watch them go, his acute hearing picking up his small daughter's parting words, "Don't you ever wish they'd just have sex like normal people?" followed by CJ's heartfelt, "I hear you."
