AN – Hey everyone. Okay I don't even know where the idea for this one came from, but it's so obscure it's being posted separately from my usual updates. Do have ideas of a sequel (though no idea where it'd go from there) but might leave it just as a one-shot...all up to how much you guys like it, so let me know :)
"Cardiff?" Rose asked as she looked at the monitor.
The Doctor nodded. "Jack."
"Jack?" she asked frowning.
He nodded again, before saying it slowly, "Jack."
"Captain?" she asked, her frown growing to a huge grin.
"Other?" the Doctor asked in response.
"True," she said, almost skipping around the room in excitement. Joining him at the door, she wrapped her arms around his and beamed up at him.
He rolled his eyes as he opened the door. "Insufferable."
"Jealous," she quipped.
"Whose jealous?" a familiar voice asked.
"Jack!" Rose exclaimed, letting go of the Doctor to engulf him in a hug.
"Hey, good to see you too Rosie," he said chuckling as he recovered his balance and hugged her back.
Pulling away, her eyes were shimmering, but her grin was massive. "Missable?" she asked, pointing to herself.
"Sorry?" he asked, frowning.
Rose sighed, pointing at him. "Miss?" she asked before pointing to herself once more.
"Did I miss you?" he asked frowning.
She nodded frantically.
"Course I missed you!" he told her firmly, pulling her into a hug once more. "So why couldn't you just ask that?" he asked as they drew apart once more.
She glanced over the Doctor then back at Jack. "Bet," was all she replied.
"A bet?" he asked, amusement evident. "What sorta bet?"
"Untalking," she replied.
"Untalking?" Jack asked looking over at the Doctor for an explanation, only receiving a shrug and a nod in response, so turned back to Rose.
Rose pointed at the Doctor. "Talker!"
The Doctor chuckled. "Talkest," he replied pointing back at her.
"Unword!" she exclaimed.
"Unword?" he repeated, raising a bemused brow.
She just pulled her tongue out at him.
Jack grinned, he'd travelled with the pair long enough in the past to understand them, even when they were being as cryptic as they were now. It's why he hadn't brought up why Rose was with the Doctor - he'd seen the lack of loss and, more significantly, lack of rapture at return in the Time Lord's eyes, and instinctively knew they had yet to be separated, meaning it was up to him to keep either of them from finding out about it! "So you've made a bet to see who talks the most...by seeing who can only make one word responses longest?" he asked, earning himself another hug from an overjoyed Rose.
"Loveable!" she gushed as she grinned up at him.
Jack chuckled. "Think you're gonna love me even more in a second Rosie," he told her before turning to the Doctor. "You don't think I would have gone to all the trouble of finding you for a stock standard invasion did ya?" he asked.
The Doctor's face went slack as the implications of all the explaining he'd no doubt have to do set in. "Bollocks," he grumbled, hanging his head.
"Yes!" Rose exclaimed, knowing victory was hers.
