Silent Nights in Meridell
By: Rita Barakat
A silent night in Meridell usually meant a large amount of people had died.In this case, that was true.It had been several weeks after the Battle for Meridell, when Lord Kass had taken over the Darigan Citadel, and Meridell was still mourning it's losses.Whether it was just a family member missing at the dinner table every night now,or whether it was Meridell's greatest knight, many had died in the course of duty...
A certain role model had left his sister to weep for nights on end.Lisha spent hours on end over her dear brother,Jeran's dead body. She couldn't help but think of how the look on his face might have been when he'd taken the plummetting fall back to Meridell. The fall back to the ground. She couldn't help but think of all the changes in Meridell, all the things she'd have to tell him.
One new thing that was introduced was Neopia Central.Let alone, other awareness of other places on Neopia.Meridell was considered a true kingdome now.It had a home on Neopia. That was one big change. But the cause of learning about other places, gave Meridell new oppurtunities, new books, new arts, new weapons...
And one new thing that touched Lisha's heart was new songs. One in particular was spread by the owner's of Neopia after the battle. Many had thought of the relations it had to Jeran's fall, and by now,Lisha had tried to learn as much as she could about this song, especially the words to it.
And she had.She knelt over Jeran one night on most likely the most silent night of Meridell in record for this whole battle reminisce, and started humming the tune, tousling her dead brother's hair.Eventually, she'd caught onto the words in her head, and started singing...
"Now I will tell you all I've done for you,
fifty thousand tears I've cried, screaming, decieving, and bleeding for you,
And you...still won't hear...me"
The strangest thing happened when Lisha got the high pitched screech of the song, her favorite part. Her voice took a plunge into a much deeper and more mature voice.Lisha gasped, held her breath, and covered her mouth. Now THAT was odd.She didn't know she could do that with her voice.
Then...Lisha realized.
It wasn't her who sang that.
Lisha turned around to face Psellia the Air Faerie.
"I have a blessing for Sir Jeran Borodere..."
Lisha looked down sadly at her brother's face."Sorry,Ms. Faerie...he's...um...gone.Unfortunatley..",Lisha said as her voice faded.
"Gone? Oh..giggle,I'm afraid not my dear aisha girl.",Psellia said,a twinge of sweetness in her voice,as she giggled and pulled out a bag of blue sand. She sprinkled the Faerie blessing over Jeran's face, and eventually, his nose quirked to realize and react to the powder.
Lisha...was shocked.
"JERAN!YOUR ALIVE!"
No more silent nights in Meridell.
