Shuffling into the low-key cafe with tired eyes squinted against the inescapable sunlight leaking through the window adjacent to the entrance, Sara's fingers wrapped tighter around the coffee cup she'd managed to make herself in the midst of her morning routine, attempting to borrow its dwindling heat for her chilled bones.

"Good morning, sleeping beauty," Tegan's voice drifted from the booth Sara had been slowly making her way to, pulling her from the post-sleep haze she wished she could sink back under

"Morning," she grumbled, taking a seat and setting her cup down, a sigh escaping her lips as she noticed the papers Tegan was scrutinising. She was hoping she'd get away with watching her sister pour over papers she couldn't care less about while avoiding her own pile of work for another day, sensitive fingers ghosting over a cold tabletop slowly absorbing the heat emanating off her coffee, but that plan was quickly sent asunder at the sight of a second pen near her twin's hand that was passed to her upon notice.

Sara rolled her shoulders, easing the thickly settled comfort of sleep from them before starting to label the papers with the date and her name, looking up every so often in hopes of a distraction, Tegan's perplexed, scrunched-up features meeting her stare every time. She smiled and laughed, the soft sound breaking the silence that accompanied hard work.

Tegan finally lifted her gaze from the lines on the paper, focusing on Sara.

"What, giving up already?"

Sara's scoff lifted the heavy atmosphere surrounding them, temporarily giving way to the banter that suggested they were taking a break. She set down her pen and crossed her arms, leaning forward to catch Tegan's eye again.

"Hey, what are your plans for today?" She asked, her smile brightening when Tegan reciprocated the attention she gave off. It wasn't like Tegan to be so wrapped up in actual, formal work, and she knew she probably shouldn't break her sibling's concentration when such important papers were due, but she quickly disregarded the thought, convincing herself that they needed quality time outside of songwriting and stage time.

"Well, first, to finish these papers."

Sara's smile fell, replaced immediately with a disappointed frown. She turned back to her papers after watching Tegan stare down at her own, rolling her pen between her teeth.

It was thirty minutes later when she was hit by a rolled up piece of paper, the outline of which matched the missing chunk from Tegan's fourth, first completed assignment. Her hand went to retrieve and unravel the wad before a familiar and hushed voice ordered her to wait until she was out of the room, and then her sister fled to the bathroom after properly excusing herself.

With excited, nimble fingers, Sara unfolded the ball and read the scribbled message several times, the small smile on her face widening with each second.

'I love you, quitter.'
