Summary- It's the final battle against Naraku. The shikon no tama has been restored but for the five shards Naraku has. Sesshomaru has joined Inuyasha's side and is helping to defeat Naraku. Kagome is helping all that she can, but Inuyasha and Sesshomaru keep pushing her back. When Inuyasha is wounded from the battle and on the brink of death, he is left in Kagome's care. Kagome learns that she loves Inuyasha and when he's recovered, will she hear what she wanted to hear for almost four months? Inuyasha/Kagome, Sesshomaru/Rin, Sango/Miroku parings. Chapter One

The Final Battle

            It was dark that night. Well, at least as dark as the full moon would allow. Sesshomaru held a sleeping Rin in his arms and Sango was huddled with Miroku. Kagome had a sleeping Shippo in her arms. Inuyasha was standing a little ways off. They knew Naraku would come to attack them at any given time so they were always on guard. Inuyasha heard a rustle in the bushes, he could smell demon. Not just any demon, Naraku.

"He's here," Inuyasha whispered.

"Naraku?" Sesshomaru asked.

Inuyasha nodded, "Kagome, take Rin and Shippo. I want you three to hide."

"But Inuyasha! I can help!" Kagome argued.

"No Kagome," Sesshomaru said, "Inuyasha is right, you need to protect Rin and Shippo."

"But-" Kagome started.

"Please Kagome," Inuyasha pleaded, "I don't want you to get hurt."

Kagome sighed and took Rin from Sesshomaru. Shippo had woken up and was now perched on his 'mom's' shoulder. She picked up her bow and her arrows and ran off behind the rest of the group. She made a bed out of some blankets and laid Rin and Shippo on them. Shippo snuggled into Rin and fell asleep again. Kagome smiled and looked out over the rocks, waiting for the Final Battle to begin.

"Miroku, I suggest you don't use your air void at any cost," Inuyasha said.

"But what if that's the only way we may have a change at winning?" Sango asked.

"No," Miroku said, "If Naraku brings his insects; I can't use the air void."

Suddenly there was a faint humming sound. The hanyou, youkai, monk and demon exterminator stood still and listened. The humming grew louder and turned to a loud buzzing. Naraku's insects came into the clearing. The final battle had begun. Kagome watched helplessly as her four friends fought against Naraku's insects. More and more of the bugs came out of no where. Each time Kagome tried to jump in and help, she would get yelled at by Inuyasha or Sesshomaru and have to go back to watching Shippo and Rin.

"You can't win," came Naraku's voice, filled with humor.

"Naraku! You bastard! Show your ugly face!" Inuyasha yelled.

"My, my, we do have a temper don't we?" Naraku chuckled.

Kagome sensed five jewel shards somewhere behind her. Oh shit, Naraku had five jewel shards that meant…Kagome turned slowly and found Naraku in his normal form. Kagome gasped and picked up Rin and Shippo. She grabbed her bow and arrows and ran to another spot where she could hide. She ran past Inuyasha.

"Oy! Wench!" Inuyasha yelled, "Where are you going?!"

"Don't call me a wench!" Kagome yelled back, "Naraku is over there!"

Inuyasha whipped around and saw Naraku's figure in the distance. Inuyasha growled and turned back to Kagome. "Where are the Jewel shards?" he asked.

"One in each arm and leg and one on his forehead," Kagome whispered from her new hiding spot.

"Don't move," Inuyasha said drawing the Tetsusaiga.

Kagome scowled and set the bed back up for Rin and Shippo. She picked up her bow and arrows and ran down to help the others. She saw Sesshomaru fighting Kanna and truthfully, he was getting no where. Kagome strung her bow and aimed it at Kanna. She yelled for Sesshomaru to move. Sesshomaru looked up from his battle.

"What are you doing?!" Sesshomaru yelled, dodging Kanna's attack.

"Helping," Kagome said simply. She let her arrow go and it hit Kanna in the heart. Kanna screamed and disappeared in a bright flash. Naraku cried out in pain and he started to bleed a bit. He growled and turned to look at Kagome who started to place another arrow in her bow. Naraku glanced at Inuyasha and sped off towards Kagome.

"KAGOME!" Inuyasha yelled.

Kagome spun around, her bow strung. She found where one of the shards was and released her arrow. A pink glow surrounded her arrow and hit Naraku in his left leg. Naraku gasped and watched as his leg ripped open and the jewel shard came out. As if on its own will, the shard flew from Naraku's grasp and situated itself on Kagome's jewel shard.

"Kagome, what did you do?" Inuyasha asked amazed.

"If I can hit his jewel shards, I can get them back," Kagome whispered.

Kagome strung another arrow, but this time, Naraku was prepared and dodged the arrow. Naraku grinned and ran over to Kagome. He drew his arm back and punched Kagome in the stomach. Kagome gasped and flew backwards, hitting a rock and fell the ground. Inuyasha's eyes widened and he ran over to Kagome. Thank god she was still breathing. A low growl emitted from Inuyasha's throat and ran at Naraku from behind. Naraku was to busy with Sesshomaru to notice Inuyasha. The half demon lifted the Tetsusaiga and cut Naraku's right arm. The jewel shard fell out and rejoined the rest of the jewel.

"Why you," Naraku growled.

Naraku lept in the air and drove his arm through Inuyasha's chest. Inuyasha gasped and fell to one knee. Naraku laughed and was about to finish Inuyasha off when he felt another arrow pierce his left arm, then his right leg. Naraku growled at the loss in power and turned to find his two jewel shards rejoining the almost whole Shikon no tama. Kagome had her bow in her hands, breathing heavily, another arrow knocked in her bow.

"You take another step and I'll take out that last jewel shard," Kagome gasped. She didn't even notice Inuyasha, she was to busy dealing with Naraku.

Naraku laughed, "You think you can beat me?"

"No, but he can," Kagome said, nodding her head towards Sesshomaru.

Sesshomaru jumped at Naraku and slashed him across the face with his claws. The last jewel shard fell out of Naraku's forehead and finally the Shikon no tama was whole. Inuyasha stood slowly and raised the Tetsusaiga over his head, slicing Naraku in half. Naraku screamed out in pain, but didn't die. Kagome was on her hands and knees a bright pink glow around her. She lifted her head and stood slowly. She walked over to Naraku; she seemed to glide towards him. Her hands connected with Naraku's skin and he screamed and exploded from the inside out, disappearing in a whiff of smoke. Kagome fainted but was caught by Miroku just before she hit the ground. Another scream pierced the night. Sesshomaru looked towards where the sound came from and found Inuyasha being attacked by the last of Naraku's insects.

"Inuyasha!" Sesshomaru said. He jumped up and started to slash at the insects. When they were all dead he carefully picked up his little brother.

"Is it over? Did we win?" Inuyasha asked weakly.

"It's over little brother," Sesshomaru said, "We've won, Naraku is gone."

Inuyasha smiled and closed his eyes, falling asleep in his older brother's arm. There was a bright pink light again and they were all transported to Kagome's time. Mrs. Higurashi screamed when she saw everyone in her living room and her beaten daughter. She rushed over and took Kagome from Miroku and cradled her daughter in her arms.

"What happened?!" Mrs. Higurashi asked.

"The final battle against Naraku, we won," Sango said, "And your daughter I presume wished that we were all transported here so we could recover."

"I'll take her to her room, and then get the rest of you set up," Mrs. Higurashi said. She walked up the stairs and placed her daughter in her own bed then walked downstairs.

"Now, do we have any couples?" she asked.

"Me and Sango are together, and then Sesshomaru and Rin are together," Miroku said.

"Oh, well, ok, we have two spare bedrooms and then the living room," Mrs. Higurashi said, "Miroku, you and Sango can have one of the bedrooms and Sesshomaru, you and Rin can have the other. Now, what about Inuyasha and Shippo?"

"Well my brother is injured, and Shippo wants to stay with Kagome," Sesshomaru said.

Mrs. Higurashi noticed Inuyasha's limp form and gasped, "Oh my! There's a mattress in the closet, I'll get that and set it up in the kitchen and then we can bandage his wound."

Sesshomaru nodded and Miroku took Inuyasha from the youkai. Sesshomaru went to the closet and pulled out the extra mattress. He walked into the kitchen, Miroku behind him and set the mattress down in the corner. Miroku placed the wounded hanyou on the mattress. Mrs. Higurashi came into the kitchen with some disinfectant and bandages. She cleaned out Inuyasha's wound and bandaged it up then gave him some medicine to help slow the poison. She showed Sesshomaru and Rin to their room, then showed Sango and Miroku their room. She let Shippo into Kagome's room and watched as the small fox demon snuggled with Kagome. Mrs. Higurashi closed the door and sighed, what a weird life her daughter had. The next morning was going to be…Interesting.

A/N- This is my very first Inuyasha fan-fic. Please no flames! Ok, so, tell me if you liked it or not. I'm not too good with battle scenes and stuff…so…I tried! Tell me things I might need to fix and just grammar and stuffs. I used spell check, so it should be ok. I was thinking about using songs in the next few chapters because it helped Inuyasha calm down, well, only when Kagome sang to him, but tell me if that's a good idea, I mean, cause I know they live in Japan and all and I was going to use American music.
