It was a bright day, full of sunshine and smiles. No one would have guessed the atrocity that was to be born that afternoon when the meeting let out. To Ivan and Matthew, it was worse then usual. Ivan was openly hated. He was teased and tortured. Matthew was more then just ignored. He was unseen. He was forgotten. He might as well not have existed. For the two of them it was the last straw. After centuries of hopeless despair, they had enough.
"H-hello, Ivan." Matthew's tinkling voice drifted down to Ivan as they met in a nearby coffee shop. Ivan was the one person to always see, remember, and love him. Always.
"Good afternoon, Matvey. You said you wanted to see me." Ivan looked up at him with large maroon eyes, his normal smile just a little bigger then normal.
"Yes," Matthew smiled, something swirling deep in his lilac eyes as he slid into the seat across from him. "I had the most wonderful idea to solve both of our problems. "
They leaned closer together as he uttered the perfect plan.

Three months later they put their plan into affect. It was another meeting and they had everything set up and ready to go.
The meeting was held in a huge building. The walls where all made of glass that let the sunlight in beautifully. It was on the ground floor, but the ceiling was high enough to have a catwalk. The nations were all gathered at the huge table in the center, except for two. Russia and Canada were on the cat walk, all excited smiles and happy laughs. They had chosen the best time for them to start. It was the middle of America's speech. He was the one that had always caused them the most trouble. They both hated him with a hatred impossibly deep.
So, in the middle of his ramblings the sprinkler system went off, showering each and every nation below with a clear liquid. They both watched, hands clasped together, as the droplets sparkled in the beautiful sunlight. It looked beautiful, lie liquid fire in the setting sun.
Ivan giggled maniacally. "This is a good use for my vodka, da?"
Matthew laughed too, a laugh full of childish glee. "Oui, Ivan it's perfect."
They both looked at the confused nations as Matthew took out a match and an old fashioned lantern. Quickly lighting it he dangled over the edge of the catwalk. Ivan carefully brought his hand up to Matthew's face draw him closer. They smiled and shared a passionate kiss as Matthew slowly released his grip. The sprinkler system they had rigged with vodka quickly caught fire. The two didn't spare a moment before making their way out of the building via the near by fire exit.
Their kingdom would rise at the demise of the ones they hated.
A kingdom of dust and ashes.
