- Sleepless -
Colette propped herself up on her elbows as she stared outside the window of their flat. The Paris sky lit up like a field of gold, sparkling and mystifying in the night sky. She sighed quietly, and turned to look beside her.
She could hardly believe she'd fallen for a guy like Linguini Alfredo. Sure, he was adorable, especially when he was nervous … but still it was beyond her. She hated men her entire life, after spending most of her life trying to one-up all the men in the cooking business. It was tough for a girl in that career, and her jealousy towards men always getting a job instead of her grew. She still felt that anger upon finding that Linguini was to be a chef. But … he was different. It was difficult to place.
She lay back down, her nose brushing lightly against his. He didn't stir. He looked so peaceful in his sleep … lately his face was contorted with worry over their new restaurant. It was only a matter of time before the two of them would become too fatigued with the daily things, as they were the only chefs in the place, besides the little chef. But a rat could only do so much.
Colette knew they needed to hire more cooks, but no one would understand the concept of a rat working in the kitchen. One small misunderstanding could turn into a huge problem, and then they would have to shut down and find another place and move into another flat all over again.
Linguini was snoring, but not loud enough that she'd have to smother him. Normally she would, but he looked so peaceful that she wouldn't have the heart to. She reached up and ran her hand gently through his short curly red locks. He nuzzled into his pillow with a small smile, and she grinned with a blush. There it was again. This disoriented little mess of a boy had his hold on her. She'd let him get away with kissing her because she had liked it, but now she had fallen head over heels in love with him, and there was no turning back.
She nestled herself into his arms and he embraced her subconsciously. She rested her head in the crook of his neck, shutting her eyes and breathing deep to savor the moment. His snoring slowed to relaxed quiet breaths.
She suddenly realized then and there; she needn't stress about the future, for whatever obstacles they had come across in the past they had survived. Surely they could handle any other problem that'd come up, as long as they were together.
'Something about this silly boy' she mused, 'he makes me think I can perform miracles …'
And with the worry off her mind and in the arms of the love of her life, she drifted peacefully off to sleep.
(A/N)- I'm sorry it's short. This was fun to do so I may write another. Please review if you've read it, but no mean ones. :-)
