And now came the reckoning, brother to brother.
They had travelled in soundless tension for what seemed like hours.
Then, Dean shattered the silence.
"Sam,"
"What?"
"She was …"
"She was going to kill you."
"We don't know that."
"Well I wasn't about to take any chances."
"But I would have…"
"No, you wouldn't. And we both know it."
"I had it under control."
"You froze; and I had to step in."
"But you didn't have to…"
"Yes I did."
"It was…"
"It was her or you Dean. I chose you. It's always going to be you."
In the end, the issue was settled by a single admission.
